Not necessarily.. I have contacted Audi, MB and even Porsche dealerships directly when I was drafting the article on MMT.. they have shown their concerns and they are also getting knocking issues. The dealership clearly mentions their customers to use High Octane/ min 96 octane which is actually on pump imported. All German cars inside the fuel lids says " Min octane rating Premium fuel / 96/97 octane ".
So if you don't hear that these German cars are not knocking is for the fact that either those people are not on media or using only the high octane. Still there are knocking issues reported.
The turbo Civic issue is for the fact that the fuel grade is 91 Octane which local blend of local 87 with additives...

Btw,, government agency also confirmed that high rate of metallic additives is there on Honda complaint and they have set a deadline that oil companies change it which to be is not possible as the entire refinery needs upgrades worth billions.
