Most probably non turbo though, I doubt anyone's going to launch a turbo again until the fuel saga ends.

The fuel saga is just with Honda Civic 1.5 turbo .rest of the turbo cars variants of other companies are running perfectly.

Not at all, ask BMW and Merc owners and they'll tell you kitna masla banta hai.

That's one of big reasons many rich Pakistanis buy Toyota Prado and LC's despite wanting a German vehicle.

Clarification.. 1.6L turbo is available in North American market as "Sports Trim" or an engine option recently also made available in Australia . Hyundai started offering it on facelift Elantra as a new Trim" Sport"

Secondly the other turbo variant is either a 1.4L petrol or 1.6L Diesel. If the MMTIS data base says it's 1.6L.. its not Turbo because Hyundai as far as I know Hyundai have not released 1.6L turbo outside NA region and limited other markets. It's available either with manual or DCT.. while I am sure Hyundai will not bring a 1.6L diesel.. so it's a regular 1.6L Naturally aspirated as far as the blue Elantra caught in Pakistan.

Hyundai offered 1.6T in US because of competition from Honda's turbo version as well as a turbo variant by Nissan in Sentra. No new company will bring a variant which can become an issue and no company rather any company will bring an engine which us prone to fuel issues. Hyundai would like less and less warranty issues .

Hyundai does not offer a 1.6T in ASEAN markets like in Malaysia , Philippines. its mostly either a 1.6L NA or 2.0L NA engines.

The 1.6T front grill comes with lettering Turbo, its comes with different fog-lights/ bumper. Also visible two tips exhaust on the rear with different bumper + diffuser. Additionally slightly different headlights. non of these can be seen on the blue Elantra spotted in Pakistan.

Not necessarily.. I have contacted Audi, MB and even Porsche dealerships directly when I was drafting the article on MMT.. they have shown their concerns and they are also getting knocking issues. The dealership clearly mentions their customers to use High Octane/ min 96 octane which is actually on pump imported. All German cars inside the fuel lids says " Min octane rating Premium fuel / 96/97 octane ".

So if you don't hear that these German cars are not knocking is for the fact that either those people are not on media or using only the high octane. Still there are knocking issues reported.

The turbo Civic issue is for the fact that the fuel grade is 91 Octane which local blend of local 87 with additives...

Read rhis article.. I posted this when people hardly knew about MMT and I spent a lot of time calling and collecting data from different dealerships which includes BMW, Audi and Porsche.

Btw,, government agency also confirmed that high rate of metallic additives is there on Honda complaint and they have set a deadline that oil companies change it which to be is not possible as the entire refinery needs upgrades worth billions.

I have a Turbo BMW and use high octane from a Total petrol station owned by my own family (no question of mixing at the station) and I can assure you that knocking is there. Also I have driven numerous Mercedes and Audis belonging to family/friends and every one of them had knocking. Granted not as much as the Turbo Civic , but its there.

Elantra sport is targeted at enthusiasts but at around $24,000 for loaded version people go for Civic Si.. which comes with a lot of standard equipment at price of $24000.. Si is more planted and performance oriented with huge fan following. I see more Si than Elantra sport. In fact I have not seen a Sport variant in a long time.

In Australia the SR Turbo variant starts at AU$29,990 before options. SR Turbo is the top of the line trim in Australian market.

The US Civic Si is better than the Elantra sport but the right hand drive civic rs is basically almost same as a Normal turbo civic with small changes and according to Australian comparos the Elantra sports is more fun to drive, anyway we ain't getting any sports model obviously :3

Yes I know.. Elantra sport in fact does not compete Si but regular Civic Turbo.. same is the case with Nissan Senta..
