I'm sorry I'm having to use a picture a gentleman already posted of his Santro's engine, I didn't have one of my own car.
(please keep in mind I am an illiterate with technical terms and names of car parts)
I own a Santro Club 2004. Pretty bad shape recently. The engine check light comes on from time to time and stays on. Alongside the light coming on (while idle), the engine stays in more race that it's supposed to when it's idle and when the problem isn't there and the check light isn't on.
My mechanic and myself were able to reduce the problem to this part, in the picture, in the yellow circle. Moving this part a certain way makes the light go off. When I let it go, turns back on. The grip was broken (it could not clasp on to the place where it is connected), so it was just pushed into the part. After much frustration, the mechanic grabbed a similar grip from some Honda, broke it off in places, chipped in off in places, to make it fit here. He connected the wiring and all, and made the mechanism sit inside, but it still did not grip the receiving end. Once this was done, the problem went away for a few days, and is back now. The car, when idle is in race, which leads to higher fuel consumption, which is quite noticeable. Pressing the accelerator, even a tiny bit, makes the light go off.
Could anyone please tell me what this grip is called. The place it is coming from, what is that called. And the place with the 3 pins that it is connecting to, what is it called. Also advise on availability of this as a spare part, and where I could get it from in Islamabad or anywhere in the country for that matter. Please advise on course of action as to what can be done to cure this issue (change of grip or any other fix).
This problem is truly frustration. Guidance will be much appreciated.
Thankful in advance.
