It’s a sad state of affairs that such big companies (Nishat) launch products without proper market survey/analysis. Bookings are closed now as 90% of the cars have probably been booked by investors, and shall be sold on markup (own) with availability in dozens per showroom within the next 4 to 6 months. There are several mechanisms that can easily discourage these activities, but needs commitment of these companies with customers, rather than hyping sales through fake investors. What’s the purpose of the (on A/C of - customer name) bearing on the draft/pay order if cars are to be booked like this. This is not possible without the “under the table” support of both Nishat and their registered showrooms/dealers.
Why does a company launch product if they can’t perceive the market response and keep up with the demand supply ratio. Deliveries are being committed for as long as March 2022 with no news (either public or through showrooms) for reopening of bookings.
Let me know If anyone can help me on how to acquire booking, or hook me up with someone at Nishat to have a word with them of what’s happening on ground.
I’m afraid, the only difference these companies will make (by following the same practices) is giving customers an extended option of big 6, 7, 8 etc. instead of the big 3. This mafia is only getting bigger and stronger with every passing day.

Does Invoice year make a difference when purchasing a vehicle?

I have booked a sonata 2.5 and i specifically asked for feb 2022 since January wasn’t available
Now the dealership is saying that we will give the car whenever it’s possible and it may even be December

So should I push for a 2022 delivery or should I accept this?
They committed while I was booking that it would be 2022 now they seemed to have changed their mind

Does a car with 2021 December delivery have any disadvantage compared to 2022 jan or feb

We have invested a good amount in this car and would prefer the most ideal situation

On a serious note. At the end of the day......the condition of the car matters and not the model year if a true user is going to buy the car. Only dealers create this model year issue. Have sold november invoice cars at a profit even coz the car condition was good. Wont deny one idiot tried to bargain saying "purana hogaya model kyun ke saal toh purana likha aa raha" but you need to keep your foot down.

You can take delivery in december. And ask them to prepare the invoice in January. Till then drive the car without getting it registered.

Normally there is manufacturing year mentioned on Hyundai Invoices.
The year of invoice & model year would be a important factor considering the resale of the vehicle as per our market mindset

You are buying a 6.5 million car and worried about 100k difference in model, It is always condition first.

Plus in this segment be prepared to loose big money, as majority of those looking for budget car will not buy it. And people with budget will prefer new instead of used.

So buy the car for yourself and enjoy the ride

Year of the model matters. Condition of the car is an important factor (a lot more important than year) but that doesn't mean that model year becomes irrelevant in resale. You get better offers and potentially more people willing to buy newer year model, all other things constant. It's another debate whether year of make should matter or not, but the above is a market reality.

Model year definitely matters at the time of resale. Most buyers have a cutoff year in mind when shopping for a used car and would not even consider older vehicles so may result in lesser offers.

Hyundai will reportedly not facelift the current Sonata and instead launch a completely new generation in 2023 as this model's sales have paled in comparison to similarly priced crossovers and more importantly, Kia's K5 in the home market of South Korea.

Sonata is struggling here in US as well.. extremely low sales comparing its previous generation..

If we agree to the linked article , seems it was easier for NISHAT to acquire the plant machinery and CKD because of the low demand in the home country.

Possibly.
It was quite surprising that Nishat, which had previously been quite conservative with regards to its offerings, managed to locally produce such a low-volume/expensive car so it's not too farfetched to think that the parent company pushed this Sonata to Nishat in order to squeeze max possible sales out of this generation.

Just look at the competition it has in the US and other overseas markets whereas it's the only one in its segment in Pakistan. Sales should be good in my opinion.

From what i have seen in my social circle. People who were going towards sportage or tucson(no MG as the issues are now well highlighted) are now considering Sonata because they either already have a proper SUV or the change they wanted from regular grande and civic is being provided by Sonata. This is just 4 people i know who are contemplating buying a sonata.

I for one think that that segment difference should matter.....and people who needed a cross over would still go for it.

Is the 2.0 variant underpowered? I’m thinking of upgrading from my Prius

Received my Sonata 2.0 a couple of days back. Switching to it from Civic Turbo 2020 so the comparison is made with it mostly and not any other car.

Pros:
* Extremely comfortable & smooth ride. Suspension is very good.
* Steering is very light & responsive and turning radius is good too
* Seats are very soft & comfy and the leather quality is great. The seating position is great too, I love it that I can see the whole hood while driving.
* The digital meter is epic and looks brilliant. You want to look more at it rather than the road
* The Touch screen is super responsive and very clear even in sunlight.
* The Perilli tires are a treat to have.
* Rear seats and leg room is superb.
* Audio quality of speakers is top notch.

Cons:
* Expected the transmission to be a bit more smooth but found the gears to be a bit jerky. Maybe it will get better with time.
* The 2.0 is not that fast and you cannot compare to a Civic Turbo. However, if you aren't planning on pushing the car & driving crazy fast it's pretty good for normal city & highway driving.
* No wireless Apple Carplay. Only wired
* Wireless charging doesn't work at times and I have to keep fiddling with my phone to make it work
* Paddle shifters do not allow you to drive in fully manual mode but I guess they don't in most of the cars out there.
* Passenger seat should also have had height adjustment.

Finally a review from an actual owner.

I am expecting mine 2.5 in few weeks so i was reading "Cons" with fingers crossed, after reading this nothing is a deal breaker to me.
