What I think.. it is a mirror link type of connectivity and not the offical Android Auto interface. There is difference in actual android auto. Even though Tucson brochure says andoid auto, if you see in detail in center pages of brochure, it still says mirror link. It is same connectivity as we see in Civic or Corolla. The PKDM Tucson has a locally produced infotainment unit and what I know is that android auto works on licenced software on the headunit.

Again, this need confirmation. I am not exactly sure what actually is going on Tucson. Maybe any onwer connect and share pictures to confirm if there is an android auto.

Very strange.

When we take our 20 year old car to a painter for getting repainted a fender only (after being hit by a bike etc.) and he is not able to match the paint shade correctly or the grain is not fine, most of us become really upset and angry. Here we are talking about a brand new car coming right out of the assembly line with factory finish paint.

For a vasy majority of the car enthusiasts a good paint job is really critical to overall looks of a car.

Well is Tucson's paint quality that bad that the shades are variable at different places? In the scenario you mentioned, we do get pissed, and rightly so, when the shade doesn't match with the car's original paint. Not only this is visually distressing, it is also very difficult to sell a car with variable shades at different body parts at market price as every potential buyer will see it as an accidented car. People get upset when the paint of their car is of a variable shade as the market value of that car goes down by 1 lac, if not more.

Maybe you had a different experience, but no such issue in the Tucson I saw at showroom. The overall paint quality wasn't good, but it certainly was uniform all across.

Was it like new Tesla vehicles with runs and dry spray? And when you mention uniform all across, you mean it was uniformly bad? Or that the whole car was uniformly one shade but had different levels of finish?

You got me wrong.

I only gave an example of a bad paint (or repaint) job, which is not acceptable to most of us even in the case of paint touch - ups on our old cars.

But if you are satisfied with bad paint quality (as per your own statement) of your brand new Tucson, then what can I say?

remember, this is the Pakistani car market, its dynamics are extremely unique and do not follow common sense.

e.g.

People not removing the white QC sticker from the gauge clusters of new corollas because "genuine panni pack item ki nishaani hai"

Same people have no problem in removing the thick wax coat from under the car and replace with diesel/oil spray because "dekho kitna lashkara hai"

Customers fight tooth and nail for genuine paint - yet an assembly line can give you dry spray or thick orange peel paint, people will buy it and say "ye genuine hai, aap ko kya pata - naya zamana hai"

same customers have no problems when their favorite AC mechanic says to install "duet ka ac compressor" and throw away the "genuine" one - because "asal mein Pakistan garam ilaqa hai"

This reminds of what happened recently. So my sister's car was having starting problem, and my brother in law took it to a workshop. He asked the mechanic about the status of the battery, and after checking, the mechanic said that battery is 98%, "no problem with battery". When they told me this, I asked how does the mechanic know that battery is 98%? They were clueless. Well, I put out my multimeter and checked the battery voltage, which turned out to be 10.4 volts.

This is literally funny to me, if someone claims that a piece of equipment is bad/worn. They should be able to prove it too.

Well simply the coating was visibly not of a good quality. As one user above said as well, it has only a single coat - though I'm not sure about that, but it does feel cheap - not what you expect from a brand new factory finish car. It's more to do with likely cost saving at Hyundai's paint factory.

You are confusing a lot of stuff. The example you gave was irrelevant to what I stated. It does matter if the value of your car goes down suddenly by a lac.
I'm not satisfied with paint quality which is why I mentioned it here. But still, if I've to choose between Sportage and Tucson, I will still opt for Tucson based on its looks.
Looks preference is personal but I know there are many people who are preferring Tucson over Sportage based on looks alone, despite Sportage having better paint job AND a lower price tag.

Can you share with me what you guys are collectively smoking/drinking?

I'm pretty sure KIA and hyundai aren't doing single stage paint; since that super white colour they offer looks to me like a two stage process.
But yes, I've heard from Ahmad yar (a very credible detailer) that toyota, uptill 2020, was offering white (the offwhite shade) in GLi and XLi as a single step paint.
So don't underestimate The pakistani manufacturer, and more so, our great buyer

All vehicle autobody paints have been 3 stage since the late 90s/early 2000s

Its not abt local desi beopaari doing underhand dealings, its a mandate now due to environmental factors.

Any white paint used by any manufacturer is a 3 stage but the bonding of the clear to the paint is extremely tenacious, meaning it doesnt lift the clear like other finishes. However it can become delaminated from the primer if its never maintained

E.g. all the commercial line of chevrolet vehicles OR all white mercedes sprinter vans.
