I don't know which car to buy

I’m looking for a used sedan with a budget of PKR 3 million. It needs to be a common “market” car so resale won’t be a problem. I’m leaning toward a Toyota because of its reputation for strong build quality. I definitely want a manual transmission, I’m a beginner driver, but everyone at home is comfortable with manuals and I’m willing to pay for a car in excellent condition.

My concerns:
1. Price variance: Online listings are all over the place. It seems I can get a 2014, maybe 2015, Corolla GLi within my budget. Is that realistic, or should I plan for a higher spend?
2. Peace of mind vs. search filters: I’d like a newer model in better condition, but people advising me insist on a Corolla GLi 1.6 Limited Edition in any color except black, which is making the search even harder. (I don't know why they are totally against XLI)
3. If my priority is peace of mind, would you advice me Honda? (because I can get a higher model in better condition)

Asides from their reasons, not getting ABS is something I would not recommend to anyone if they can afford to get it. It could be the reason between life and death for an inexperienced driver.

However, a manual 1.3 Corolla is plenty powerful and efficient because of its extra gears so even a manual 1.3 GLI will be a good choice if in good condition.

A manual 1.3 City is also a reliable car but it is quite low and a bit smaller. A corolla is a more comfortable drive in all terrains but most hondas would excel on good roads due to their lower center of gravity, which is why you may hear of people saying they have better grip. If you mainly travel on motorways I would actually say that a City may be an equally good choice.

I just realized, we also have a 2014 Honda Civic in that range from the Honda fraternity.

GLi 1.3 is a good option. Don’t go for the XLi, as it doesn’t have ABS brakes, which are very important for a car this heavy.
However, the Toyota GLi is commonly used as a taxi, so try to find one that was privately used (home-used).
Honda City is also a good choice if your route includes only carpeted roads and motorways.
Corolla is more suitable if your commute includes rough roads or village areas.

I'm own a 2012 reborn manual that I'm thinking of selling, it's thoroughly maintained, has lots of power and very good compression, all stock mechanically, and is in very good condition overall as compared to other cars of this gen and is bullet proof reliable, selling because shifting to an auto. Returns 10-11kmpl easy. IB if interested.
