Someone dug out this thread after 6 months, anyway i want to give my opinion as well :-
anyone thinking depression or any other (recognized) psychiatric problem is just state of mind and not an illness, should just go read the "chemical imbalance in brain" and how it effects the person suffering with such illness. Dopamine, sirotnine are a few names of chemical fluids in brain
If someone around u has been diagnosed with a psy disease then not giving the right treatment is "criminal". Murder and suicide are in everyday news but how many of such people had shown symptoms of a psy problem we don't know (due to our lack of knowledge) or we don't care (since we don't believe that psy itself does not exist)
Hyper tension is a med prob whick raises ur blood pr and is recognized world over. Could a patient of hyper tension control his/her blood pressure with only ur mood change.... simply not ... if a person is diagnosed with hyper tension would u ignore it considering it to be a just another state of mind ... NO .. if u have a knowledge of its side effects, but for some lame reason (not to be tagged as a mental patient) you or someone dear to you will ignore being a psy patient
I'm not a dr. but i've been reading a lot on this since someone close to me has this issue. i can answer a lot of questions and give you a behavioral pattern of a patient to an extent at times that you might think i got some divine powers but it is not the case, its just a lot of study over the period of last 7-8 yrs
Please don't bully a psy patient and take him/her for assessment as soon as possibly and start medication. Any improvement will be your proof.
