Stray dogs can we very good pets...... they are so grateful. Thing is I cant keep a stray dog for guard purposes on my farm. There is a huge family of stray dog living nearby the farm. If I introduce a weak dog in their territory they will kill him. Thats the reason I want a bigger breed dog. I have a chocolate Labrador puppy about 6 months old........ he is on the farm ....... he became a submissive dog to survive.....he was younger and smaller than the stray dogs and they out number him and over power him easily. Even though when fully grown up a Labrador is quite bigger than stray dogs and even at this age...... my lab is bigger than most of the stray dogs in that pack but now he is submissive and it cannot be reversed.

OK. Im getting 2 golden Labradors pups from a breeder..... pure breed hai....... thing is Labs can be taught to guard but its difficult. Im planning to exchange them with Rotties or Pitbull pups........... anyone interested???

If you're getting a Labrador that too golden pure breed, keep them! They're not harder to train, they just need attention from the owners!
I wish I had my pitbull, would have exchanged it with you right away!

Well actually my problem is theft...... it hasnt happened with me yet ALHAMDULILLAH but my neighbors lost a pair of sheep few months back. They have dogs too..... but they are stray dogs and are not trained properly. The watchman was asleep at night when it happened.

I basically need a watchdog.... not a guard dog........ watchdog simply alerts about the threat whereas a guard dog not just alerts but if sees barking isnt helping he will attack........ I do not want to train the dog to bite........ no matter how small the breed is...a dog can do a alot of damage....... guard dogs are like loaded guns........ an accident waiting to happen. Im not paranoid...... im just looking for an easy way out....... buying a formidable structure dog and hoping the intruder steps back seeing a large toothy monster barking..... what he wont know...... the dog wont bite

Even though im not inclined towards long fur breeds but what do you say about this...... a German Shepard X Saint Bernard cross. Owner says father is pedigree GSD and mother was Saint Bernard (died)..... he too is willing to exchange the lab for this beauty........ only problem is....... its a female.

German Shepherd is the best guard dog, that's my personal opinion!

Yup it was really weak when we got it, it was roaming with different people for about a month who wanted to adopt it, his house was changed 12 TIMES! Because of that he didn't ate a thing, fell ill and weak, though as he came to our place, within 15 days he started regaining his strength and when he left our place, he was a monster! He would drag me where ever he wanted to go, even if 2 people were holding his chain, he would drag them!
Yes we should have kept him, my elder brother brought him, I don't know how he convinced mom, she was just telling my brother to throw him away!
Then after three months the owner called us and said he wants the dog for a dog show for around 15 days, we gave him the dog, after 15 days, my brother was at university, I was at college and the owner came to our place to drop the dog without ever telling my brother or me. Sadly my mom came out and told the owner to take it back we don't want it!
Me and my brother after that tried alot to convince her but she never accepted our requests!
Owner called my brother few days back and said that he had bred the pitbull with another one pure breed, and soon few puppies would be born, if we want, he can give us only one for free and would be with us forever!
Now my brother is thinking to adopt a puupy but he also has knowledge that it's really hard to train them, as he would be mostly at uni and I at college! Let's see now what happens and mom allows us to bring it!

My mother grew a soft corner for the dogs and she started feeding them too. The one day all of them were killed by the animal control van..... poisoned.

Then I got a boxer puppy (for free)...... as i wasnt allowed to keep it inside the house I use to keep it chained outside. Some stray dog bit it on the head the first week and within a week it died.

Then years later my brother started a cattle farm. He wanted a dog and i got a chocolate lab pup. Still with us...... but too spoiled to be a guard dog. Its way too submissive. Thats the reason im searching another one now.

Well there is a genuine na-paki issue with a dog in the house. I have a dog..... but its not a pet I keep at home...... its a working dog I keep at the farm. BTW I got a puppy...... its a pitbull 2 month old male puppy.......... a good age to start his training. His mother is up for adoption..... but the thing is ***** is aggressive...... my younger brother said he wont go no way near her........ and I cant blame him...... she is menacing. Im thinking of getting her too.......... she is a pure breed pitbull with aggression issue. I'll give it a try if I can calm her down and socialize a bit she just might have some hope.

So now I have 2 dogs...... a chocolate Lab and a pitbull both male ....... and im planning to get 2 more...... a pitbull female and a lab female.

I was offered a dobermann male puppy 4 month old...... the owner said it that is was aggressive and did bit his servant's forearm and actually took a piece of flesh off his arm....... I mean we are talking about a 4 month old puppy. The owner was so scared he was giving the dog away.

In actuality it was the owner's fault..... he bought a 3 month old friendly puppy and took it to his fields and left it their to be a guard dog......... a dog under to no leadership and no socialization will become aggressive...... anyways I went to see the dog....... he was a pure breed but his tail wasnt docked and doberman ears need to be clipped and shaped to get "the look".... I love dobermans but the docking and cropping is something im not comfortable with ..... but without them they look rather odd.

That doberman puppy was jumpy and bored as hell....... he wasnt aggressive...... he just needs leadership... if anyone of you wants it let me know.

Do u still have it ? Im interested to adobt it

The little cute ones are the biggest pain in the a$$. They are small and get away with many unwanted habits like barking and even biting. Infact Im of the opinion that if you have children around get a medium to large size breed. They are calmer and good with kids.... the small breeds do bite kids......... remember.... the larger the dog..... the bigger the brain....... the better chances are you end up with a well behaved dog.

Do as I did if u want ur mom not to freak out...... get a puppy of street dog........ pet him and feed him outside your house...... they are grateful and will survive outside....... no one will try to steal them. Start with a stray puppy...... and when he will grow infront of your mother she wont freak out. If you feed him well....he will gte strong and become alpha male in will have a territory..... thats when you will get best protection any worldly creature can provide.

By the time he is grows into an adult and your mom OK with it...... only then you can slip a pure breed puppy of your liking. The bigger dog will protect it from thieves when its outside and you have a good breed which lives outside your house premises. You have to have a collar on them otherwise animal control vans will poison them.

If the dog is vaccinated against rabbies virus then the bite is safe.... no need for injections... BTW its 1 or 2 injections now rather than 14........ LMAO

I too had a cat........ lived with us for 14 years and recently died .... she was diabetic. Baby alligators go for like 15k in karachi. Nice idea to set it free on your arch enemies

I also kept a snake....... it was a 3ft long SAND BOA...... a baby python. My mom freaked out...... had to give it away.
I also have an aviary for budgies, finches and Javas.
I have a alxendar parrot female...... Hara Pahari Tota.... blind in one eye.... use to talk but doesn't anymore.... just whistles and mimics my father's laughter.
I also use to have an army of egg laying desi murghi few years back.
I gave up my fresh water aquarium.

Now its just dogs and birds...... mostly bcoz I too busy to keep so many pets and also bcoz ppl started ridiculing me...... yeh aadmi pagal hai. ppl started leaving their puppies and kittens outside my doorstep to force me into an adoption. It was out of control.
