the formula of calculating the current in the stock wires is simple
Power = Voltage * Current
stock bulb is 55W = Power
55 = 12 * Current
Current = 55/12 = 4.58 Amps. So currently wires are holding 4.58 Amps through them running stock 55W H4 Bulbs.
Lets say if you upgrade to 90W bulbs
so same formula
90 = 12 * Current
Current = 90/12 = 7.5 Amps. So its almost 66% more current in the same wire.
Hope this explains. If your car stock wiring is good even than an upgraded wiring for 90/100 W bulbs is a safer path.
Just so u know upgraded halogen bulbs like Osram night breaker unlimited and Philips xtremevision are of stock rating 55/60W.
