Improving headlights performance?

the formula of calculating the current in the stock wires is simple

Power = Voltage * Current

stock bulb is 55W = Power

55 = 12 * Current

Current = 55/12 = 4.58 Amps. So currently wires are holding 4.58 Amps through them running stock 55W H4 Bulbs.

Lets say if you upgrade to 90W bulbs

so same formula

90 = 12 * Current

Current = 90/12 = 7.5 Amps. So its almost 66% more current in the same wire.

Hope this explains. If your car stock wiring is good even than an upgraded wiring for 90/100 W bulbs is a safer path.

Just so u know upgraded halogen bulbs like Osram night breaker unlimited and Philips xtremevision are of stock rating 55/60W.

on paper, the calculation sounds good, but if the old wire is nicked anywhere, or the connectors are corroded, it will heat up on the spot and melt the connector

Yes and further to that i once burnt the complete harness which is at the back of steering wheel controlling the indicators, wipes and headlights. (had to replace it with Kabli one). however continued using 90W/100 koito bulbs and didnt face the issue again. No new relay or wiring used. everything is on stock wiring.

The easy thing you guy can do, is order the bolton chinese relay kits from daraz. I can make that one too, it involves absolutely no cutting/alteration of stock harness. It just plugs in like an HID kit.

But

their wire may or may not be good and the relays are to be bolted on car body, not in a splash proof box, which just reduces my confidence.

However, even though it is working good for you, I would still advise that a nicely done relay install will prolong the wiring life.
