Now that's not fair! In fact, it is these kind of sweeping statements that cause all the problem.
Indians are NOT hated here. Yes, some people here might have a strong opinion about indians, but then again, they might have the same opinion about people within their own city.
People like or dislike others based on their impression imposed upon them by external factors (media, word-of mouth, politics, and media again).
My point is that please do try to avoid pidgeon-holing an entire country based upon your experiences. Its SO not fair.
And as far as watching indian movies are concerned, well I think that most indian movies are available here in Pakistan an evening PRIOR to being released in India. And yes.. Piracy is nothing to be proud off... but it also follows simple demand and supply. That's how much people watch your movies here.
I ain't taking sides here. just stating the bare facts. There might be people here who might not like to watch indian movies, but hey! I respect their choice, and so should everyone else. Its only fair for everyone to have a choice nowadays.
And as far as my personal opinion is concerned, I am a HUGE movie freak, but there was a time when I wouldn't be caught dead watching an indian movie (the sad era of the late 80's and 90s comes to mind). But I would not be honest if I say that the indian cinema has not progressed in the past 5 years or so. In fact, the level of experimentation being exhibited is commendable. I don't watch much movies now. Just the occasional indian movie now and then, along with english, spanish, french, and the occasional italian as well. The last good indian movie that I watched was Omkara, and yes, it went on to prove the timelessness of Shakespeare in a beautiful manner, and I loved it for that.
Just my $0.02. Sorry if I offended anyone.
Cheers!
