Installed CNG in my CIty 2010

I am not sure, but someone told me that higher octane fuels also cause a different kind of knocking which is not audible and it is more dangerous, I am forgetting the exact term.

Tell me how your car knocks if you are in higher gear in slow speed or while you are accelerating?

if anyone owns or drives the older shape city Vario on petrol,
u will know the real meaning of knocking. the car will knock on 120km/hr on highway non bloody stop ! and even on 20km/hr.........then i asked my friend just to mix 400 rupee hi octane. knocking vanished by 90%
to much technology is harmful in pakistan!

cars like Vitz and Se Saloon have hydraulic tapits. CNG kind of tightens them up with time. but the fix is to take off the block and send it to the machinist(kharadiya).....witnessed such cases myself.....

Why the City 2010 starts knocking when we use regular petrol and it never does on HI-Octane. Is that make sense? and on CNG it just never come up with knocking at all. So experts clarify this. I even spoke about this with the HONDA guy about the knocking and he said use MIX petrol like regular and hi-octane, But this is not the solution I guess. Anyhow I am running on CNG now.

City 2010 starts knocking on regular petrol b/c regular petrol has a poorer octane number than it really should have. Most of the time it has some non-petrol items mixed into it. Otherwise hi-octane is only required for sports (high compression) engines. You must have the owner's manual with you since it is a new car, look in it and you'll find the recommended fuel type.

The hi-octane when you mix it (small quantity) in the regular petrol brings octane number to required level so knocking stops. MIXING small quantity of hi-octane every 3rd or 4th tankful is the only solution. You can't manually retard spark timing and even if you did you'll lose power which you won't like.

CNG already has a very high octane so it doesn't knock. In fact it difficult to combust so you actually have to advance the ignition timing.

Cultus also has hydraulic tappets. In fact only change b/w Khyber and Cultus is the cylinder head. Never seen anyone with Cultus who has had this problem, so I think it is because these animals are strange for the mechanics and Cultus is not. What do you think?

viki, the long route mileage is awesome, but please post mileage figures in average after 3-4 times tank fill-up. Daily your driving is around 100 km so its easy for you..

Here are the latest figures for the Mileage and stuff. I hope tht will help other CITY 2010 owners.

Tank filled: Rs/ 500 (After Discount Rs/420) with 3000 psi.

Mileage with AC(long): 168kms.

SO this time it is Rs 2.5/km

Not sure how much it will effect if I just run with out AC since I never got a chance to drive a full cylinder with out AC.

What about the weight of cylinder if seen from the rear. Because I've seen few city's with getting lower due to cylinder's weight.

Will spacers suits the car or not. Because sometimes cars get higher giving weird look. Do spacers have variety based on size or whatever?

Yes, that is true, the car is a bit lower from the back. I am planning to put a suitable spacers in it. Will figure out over the weekend. I might change the spring at the rear so lets see.

I dont think if any car should Start knocking on CNG but if you had a chance to drive CITY 2010 on petrol, you will see it does knocking if you dont change the gear in time. My point here is that after putting CNG in CITY 2010, I am not facing that knocking anymore.

Knocking basically depends on the amount of octane in petrol, the lower the worst.

Even Alto does knocking on petrol (if the race is low) and on CNG it doesn't do that.

I have City 09. I was wondering what happens to the 'Real time consumption meter' when you're running it on CNG?

My car gives me 21 Km/l if I have to travel 100 kilometers (mostly from Rawalpindi to Peshawar) which is about the same as CNG. CNG would cost about 500 rupees of CNG from Peshawar to Rawalpindi, and I filled up my tank in Peshawar and refilled it in Pindi and it very difficultly got 600 rupees of fuel in it. (Difference of 100 rupees).

But may be there is something I do not know? Yes, local par its really very bad.. that is unquestionable. But if you have to drive 100 kilometers everyday.. it shouldn't be that much of a problem..

Dude you asked me pretty good question, first of all, I used to get 17/18 km/l on petrol and I drove it for like 7000 kms and that was the daily average on the ODO. If you are getting 21km/l then you got a gem seriously.

As far as the CNG kit, I got that for Rs/34500 and I believe that is just an Ad ON into my car. So that expense is not countable.

Now as far as the ODO meter on CNG, obviously it wont work properly since you are running on CNG not petrol. I used to reset the trip on every refill of CNG and It shows me 12km/l on Average which is obviously not true as the petrol tank is full. You must be getting same figure on the AVG when you drive on CNG.

DO let me know if your fuel gauge goes down when you run on CNG? because my fuel gauge goes down just like I am driving on petrol however it is on CNG but after some kms the fuel guage goes to its actual position where it was before. That is INteresting part innit
