Just recently relocated my TCL miracle 1.5 ton and installed it all by myself (I got all tools except vacuum pump).
I extended pipes by adding another 13 feet so total 23 feet.
Believe me now with this much long pipes i actually felt need for vacuum pump because if you purge you don't know when air will end and gas would start coming out (gas smell could give you some idea but don't inhale that).
So if you over purge you will waste the gas. Under purging would leave air and moisture inside pipes. Therefore vacuuming should be done to avoid this trouble.
Also do let me tell you about another scam. These days Ac technicians charge 4000 rupees for gas charging even if they fill 100 grams only.
The original Made in USA gas costs around 3500 - 5000 rupees per kg. While high quality chinese gas costs around 1500 - 1600 rupees per kg. The cheaper one around Rs 1200/kg.
Now if you ask them to fill US made gas they will simply top up A grade chinese gas. While if you ask them for chinese one they will fill that cheaper 1200 rupees gas.
Almost all technicians doing this fraud in this country in the name of "American gas".
No shame or ethics left in this country.
