“Foul” smell is almost always due to microorganisms so cleaning and disinfecting is the way to go. The problem is, you may not be able to reach all areas and some of it is left every time you have tried.
Then with the moisture, it hardly takes them any time to multiply and start giving off smell again.
A full cleaning with some disassembly will get rid of it or you can try aerosol disinfectant while the unit is running. Don’t directly spray on it specially near circuitry.

The idea is to let the aerosol microdroplets run through the system, so it should be sprayed around the inlet when the AC is running, but not directly on it. A microdroplet fogger would have been perfect as it has lighter than air droplet weight, but an aerosol spray will also work.
Let the AC take in the aerosolized air and the disinfectant should reach the nooks and crannies within the system where the bacteria / fungus may be residing. Kind of like those deodorizing sprays we get to clear of smell in cars.

You are wrong here.

it's not an assumption or just my random thoughts, it's an actual problem which many users are facing, L1 simply doesn't work above 42-43C, shows 0A and compressor trips just blower keeps running
when you switch to L2 or L3, everything is fine again
I didn't even know that before until I experienced same once back in May when for 2 consecutive days it was 46-47C in Lahore,

When outdoor temperature is high it is obvious AC will not drop amperes too much. But fixing it for certain outdoor temperatures and tripping compressor is the worst thing to do and nullify the advantage of inverter AC.

agree with you, it would have been a lot better then, other than power consumption, when compressor turns off, even if room temperature is in less than set temperature, humidity increases, that's even more annoying

Yes, the drain should be at the lowest point. Maybe your unit is also tilted towards front.
If not check if there are any foam paddings in inner coils or in drain tank. My ac was giving smell even after cleaning so I opened and removed all of paddings that were wet. Now I don't have this smell issue anymore.

Always tilt towards drain pipe by few degrees. You can achieve this with leveler.

Well these days my TCL miracle is not giving any smell. Dettol trick worked.

Also I am now using mildew function that dries the evaporator and stops microorganism growth.

Please do not use washing powder for cleaning. It causes corrosion. Use plain water.

Because I haven't yet seen this issue in my old TCL miracle 1.5 ton model. It would just keep running instead of giving L0 error even when outdoor temperature is 42+.

May be they reprogrammed newer models and did this ultimate "bongi"

where's the inlet in split AC, can you elaborate please.

I've previously cleaned car ACs with the air inlet that's near the bonnet.. but what about split AC?

Coil and grill above coil is inlet. Blower vent is outlet.
Open the grill and spray on the coil directly and it will reach the blower and all passages. Wear a mask and stand tall of it or at sideso that the blower doesn't throw the disinfectant on your face.

Yes, sometimes when the voltage is very low, 0A comes displayed on screen.

Is there any noticeable efficiency difference between 5dc and 3dc? Also any idea which inverters are 1dc and should they be avoided? I read somewhere that 1dc alone makes a big difference and 3dc and 5dc don't make too big of a difference.

(because EER is mentioned according to 35C ambient temp, we will assume 35C or lower, for day time these stats aren't applicable)
tcl t3 pro being 3dc has eer 3.2 (w/w) and tcl t5 smart being 5dc has eer 3.6 (w/w)
so ideally one should buy t5 smart, considering it's the best option? , in my opinion, it depends upon your mindset if that is worth spending for you or not

tcl t5 will consume 92% of tcl t3 pro
under same conditions
assume t3 pro is at 4 amps, t5 will be at 3.68 amps
assume t3 pro is at 3 amps, t5 will be at 2.75 amps
assume t3 pro is at 2 amps, t5 will be at 1.83 amps
in monthly usage, if t3 pro is consuming 250kwh, t5 will consume 230kwh
so it's up to you whether for those 20 units in monthly bill, are you willing to spend 9k above or not

because during buying process, I simply ignored 1dc, only considered 3dc and 5dc (t3 pro and t5 smart) and bought t3 pro (1 ton) because t5 smart isn't available in 1 ton so I had no other option

My gree inverter gas escaped after just 3 years or so. Had it refilled by gree official people and they did not vacuum it. Yeh tou haal hai in ka and charged me 6000. Khair, 2 days nai guzray tou gas escaped. Those guys came again, checked the place where they filled gas n said there is leakage sumwhere and both indoor+outdoor units need to be taken off and will be checked /fixed at their centre.
I dont think i shud take it to them. Or shud i?
Does anyone know any reliable place/person that can fix the issue in rwp or isb?

6000 rupees for gas charging without even investigating why gas leaked in the first place. 🤦🏻‍♂️

They all are using A-grade Chinese gas (اخے ye USA ki gas hey) that is being sold for 1600 rupees per kg at refrigerants parts market. The cheaper one (اخے ye china ki gas hey) for 1200 rupees.

Gas leaking in just 2 days mean there is major leak somewhere. Mostly its indoor unit ubends that would leak from joints.

@dms664 @waqar747 So sprayed the entire indoor unit with lysol, including coils n blower while it was running, as well as offline.

Still, the smell is there.

when I pour water inside it drains just fine from the drain pipe.. n there's also a tilt towards drain pipe. So that's surely not the reason.

Can smell come from the OUTDOOR unit? Can mold/bacteria build there, specially when it was used in winters for heating.. as things reverse for heating.

American companies have not setup plants in China, so no harm in getting china made gas as long as it is original. 1600 per kg, i think these are old rate, now a days it is being sold for 2500/kg.

They should have checked for gas leakage. My Kenwood was not cooling that well, called a ac mechanic, he had some kind of sensor which beeped at the place where there was leakage. He told me he brought this from Saudia.
