But after reading positive reviews on about their 1.5 ton AC, i guess their ACs are also good.

Call TCL and ask them to provide an AC installer who could vacuum and install properly.

Yea, I saw the reviews so that why I'm a bit satisfied. Was concerned about lack of side/back grills but it seems like all local AC manufacturers have stopped installing those. Finally thought of spending a bit extra and going for LG/Samsung but they said they didn't import ACs this year.

Besides Metro & Hyperstar both carry Changhong ACs along with other good ones e.g. TCL, Samsung, Haier, and Dawlance, so it much be decent at least.

I think paint will not stay as surface temperature will vary, it can go very low in cooling mode and high in heating mode. Moreover, it'll become wet in cooling mode and will not stick to surface. May be some special industrial paint can do the trick. Check 'Rust Oleum' brand for some suitable product. Like they have some special paint for hot surfaces like stove. Look for something having wide temperature range.
I still believe nothing will be as durable and protective as epoxy resin.

Copper does not rust. This is a common misconception. It corrodes forming a protective oxide layer that protects it from further corrosion. Leakage occurs from connection points and the most common cause for it's leakage is not vacuuming the system. No amount of covering with paint/epoxy will protect it from such leakage.

Many of you would have seen copper pipes gone greenish black on very old installations. That is it's protective layer that forms over it.

Paint works fine. If there is issue then buy car paint from auto market and spray that. That paint can tolerate intense weather conditions.

For what reason? Elsewhere in the world copper pipes are the preferred choice for water plumbings.

Tons of water coming out of inner AC split unit ..(not the drain pipe one, that is also working and draining water). But this one's leaking from the unit itself.

Cooling seems OK (but lil bit down).

What could be the reason? Already tried cleaning the indoor unit but no luck.

i have 1838s. no problem with the ac. but i would advise you to get samsung, as its the same price range.

I am also facing similar problem with my dawalance. Ruined my wall. Apparently water is going out through the drain pipe as i can see however after 2-3 hours of usage its starts dripping in as you said tons. I than slowly lift from one side a bit and more water starts draining out from the pipe after that it works ok.

True, but pex is not safe and has high failure rate, it's already being banned. But the point was copper doesn't rust. Copper pipes used for water easily last 50+ years.

you guys have to open the cover and have a look at the tray to see whats wrong. Water might be getting collected on other end where pipe is not connected and after some time it spills over.

copper stupidly expensive for use in piping though... thats why never used in pakistan.

copper does not rust. it oxidises. and oxidation/erosion does remove material from it, causing it to deteriorate.
environment factor also counts a lot. salty/corrosive environment will destroy copper quite quickly.

The layer that builds up on copper actually protects it (unlike iron).
We have 15 year old ACs and their pipes have turned dark but no leakage and working strong.

Exactly. The layer that forms protects it from further corrosion. I think this layer is called 'patina' and it's only at the surface. Copper is actually among the most resistant of metals
