kenwood 1838s using for 1 year now. good experience regarding efficiency and airthrow.

cant say about durability. no issues so far.. was installed with proper vacuuming so hopefully will last long time.

i actually have my own vaccum pump and gauges...

the installer only fitted the AC. drilled wall, installed outer bracket and piping. i had the pipes tightened only by the installer.. did not open gas.

i vaccumed the ac and opened gas valves myself after ensuring there were no leaks.

if its fine on cool mode...then nothing to worry...self cleaning may deliberately do that to clean evaporator...

on cool mode...line should be not iced .just had dripping condensation water

If line is dripping condensation water, what does that means?

its normal for ac lines to get condensation water as cold refrigerant pass by lines . the diff in inside and outside temp makes it do that....

it will drip more specially in high humid or hot outdoor temps

Yes. It trips when temperature is 0.5 - 1.5C lower than set temperature.

Yeah i am also suspecting that. It is programmed that way. I don't know the logic behind it.

Hmm.
So even if we deflect 98 percent sunlight from our buildings what about hot air entering rooms and heating them. We would still be needing air conditioners but power drawn by them will surely be a lot lower.

I got 1 Ton for ~70K.

So if you're getting it at 91k, it's fair enough.

Sounds good. I spoke to a Daikin tech and was disappointed to hear that they did not vacuum lines at installation by default. They were trying to justify that standard installation with less than 10 ft of piping does not require vacuuming and gas release / purge is enough to clear the lines since gas is 'overfilled' in system.
Could this be correct? From what I have read in this thread and others, vacuuming is a must and standard company procedure even mentioned in manuals for all installations. Why would the company avoid this? Maybe to save time and effort of tugging along the pump, at the expense of the customer's AC experience and AC's functional life.

Pure laziness and Jahalat of Pakistani AC technicians when they say vacuuming is not required. Purging does remove air from lines but some of it also gets mixed in refrigerant. The moisture in that air will slowly damage the copper pipings.

I even know an ac technician who was working on my old air conditioner, asked him if he does the vacuuming of lines and he answered "wo kya hoti hey?"

This was the peak of jahalat I encountered. Someone who was working for years as ac technician and he didn't even know its basics. But he knew very well how to dance on graves and ask for help from dead ones.
