It's 5 DC inverter according to most TCL marketing ads online, but still many people call it 3DC

just sharing TCL's reply in comments, so it's 3DC

One drawback is it's gen mode (4A, 6A & 8A) that gets reset to default full power mode after power failure, but remote remembers gen mode, so it will go to gen mode whenever you turn on the ac from remote. But if it's running on gen mode, electricity goes and then it start automatically on full power mode upon electricity coming, unless you operate it from the remote manually.

in my case, 2 issues, just nitpicking
1. There's no LAN/Bluetooth control, if there's no internet (like just a week ago during political unrest), you can't use app, I found this bit annoying (I have Sonoff device which offers LAN control, it's really convenient)
2. Gentle cool feature and vertical louvres
because of holes in vertical deflectors, the vertical swing is pretty much useless, air simply passes through holes and ac covers at max 30-35% area on right and left with swing on
Yes gentle cool feature is useful in October and November but it's still a trade-off

I'm trying to find TAC-18T3-Pro in Islamabad, but I couldn't since even the flagship store doesn't have it.

Can I go for TAC-18T5-SMART? Your comments above suggest that the TAC-18T5-SMART is more efficient than 18T3, but it doesn't look as aesthetically pleasing. Is that all there is to it? Or is there anything else I should be concerned about?

yeah for sure, other than aesthetics,it's better overall (and that's why expensive too)

yes, the EER, 3.3 vs 3.6 w/w
also it's max btus are on higher side, 19500 vs 21155
and air volume, 1100 vs 1150 m3

"warm water mixed with vinegar or baking soda" is recommended in this article

so you can try vinegar (just rinse the evaporator thoroughly later on)

divide rated cooling output by rated power input, in pak, we generally use w/w, in some regions, btu/w is used
like incase of 2 Ton T3 pro cooling.
rated btus are, 24000
convert but to watts, 12000 btus= 3517 watts
hence 24000 btus= 3517*2= 7034 watts
so the cooling capacity is 7034 watts
rated power is 2000 watts
7034/2000= 3.517 w/w

if someone is confused about why we are using watts rather than btus, at the end of day, it's energy, you can use units like BTU, watts, Kw, Hp or Kj/h
in fact all these units are globally used in different regions for acs

yes I use plain water every year with toothbrush and this pressurized container but this year I wanted to have some more cleaning by adding some cleaning agent.

I am using a Gree G10 1 ton AC which is almost 7 - 8 years old (bought in 2016 I think). Its taking 2.0 - 2.1 amps when temperature is reached.
If we calculate watts: 2.0 x 220 = 440 watts
Rounding off it to 500 watts so its equal to 0.5 unit per hour
This means if I run this AC for 20 hours, its consuming 10 units.
10 units x 30 days = 300 units
300 units x Rs. 40 = Rs. 12,000

Is this ok?

yes but for better accurate overall consumption stats, do take into account the initial power required to achieve the desired temp, it's a significant part, you ignored that

Yes I ignored that because I have taken extra hours already. We never run it for 20 hours.
It runs between 14 hours to 18 hours on average

What is idle and running pressure of R32? My 1 ton Haier is low on gas. Problem is unlike R410 the R32 pressure varies a lot. A lot of YouTube videos recommend filling by the weight but when this option is not possible technicians (illiterates) do by psi gauge. So any idea what would be recommended pressure?

However, I just found out that TCL doesn't offer any installation services in Islamabad. I'll have to opt for a local vendor.

Is it still worth it to go for TCL-T5-Smart? Because I don't think I'll have an easier experience if something goes wrong — I don't know how TCL warranty works in this case.

Are there similar alternatives in Gree or Haier?

Gree is very expensive. No installation service
Haier offers exceptional after sales service and also free installation. Do not expect vacuum pump installation though.
TCL offers installation but in LHR

No installation service and I have no idea how their after sales support will work .
