AC: GREE GS-CITH1S 1.5 ton Inverter

It's basically a kitchen on the top floor facing sun from 2 direction that I have converted into my home office.
Turned the AC on at 12:30 am and put in cool turbo set at 26. It went up to 9.5 amps (@170volts=1615watts) and stayed there for good part of 1:30 hrs(90 mins), now at about 2 am amps have dropped to 3 (@170volts still).
Usually you don't buy 1.5 ton for a room this small, but I knew this room gets very hot. After 30 mins of operation, the walls were still very hot when turned on the AC at 30 mins past midnight. Now the walls feel like my body temperature.
It stayed at 3 amps for only about 10 mins and now have crept back up to 9 amps. Obviously AC is being worked overtime to cool down this room. I wonder what will happen during the day, it'll probably stay at full speed.
Now 5 mins later it has again come down to 2.8 amps (@170 volts), let's see for how long it maintains it.
Stayed at 2.8 amps for 10 mins and went backup gradually to 8 amps, stayed at 8 amps for 5 mins and gradually got back to 2.8 amps.

The way I see it, inverter AC is not for everyone. People can benefit a little are who:
- use their AC 10-12 hours a day
- want use solar system or a ups
- who get low voltage like me (drops to as low 160 volts at night)
Inverter is not a good buy for:
- Drawing rooms where it's rarely used like once a week or months
- People who only use it at night for 6 hours (9pm-6am minus 3 hours of load shedding)
The 30k - 80k (depending on brand) you put upfront, you will not get it back in savings even in 5 years.
1.5(units consumed per hour)x5(6 hours of usage with 1 hour of down time when ac turns itself off when temp is reached)x30(days)x15(average unit rate) = 4050 monthly bill for 1 of 1.5 ton normal AC.
There is no way you save 60% or 50% in bills by using the inverter AC, real world figure is about 15% to 30% depending on conditions. Lets assume the best case scenario of 30% in which case you will be only saving 1215 per month. Multiply that to 4 months of average usage in a year = 4860 in saving per year.
Now in case of Acson inverter AC (priced at 125 plus about 5k installation) where you pay about 70k more compared to conventional Acson AC, it will take you 14 years to recover the amount you paid upfront, let alone making any savings.
So before buying an inverter AC, figure out first if you really need it.
