Is 5w-30 OK? For Vitz in summers?

Recently switched to Quartz 9000 5w30 in my Steermatic 07. Economy started to get better. I was getting near to 13 before.

A friend recently bought Aqua. He went to toyota for oil change and has no idea about oils. They put 20w50 old grade in Aqua. He called me that average dropped and also car is a bit heavy. I am Changing it to 5w30 than 5w20 later. But Toyota don't know which engine oil is recommended for Aqua?

Toyota Japan knows but Toyota Indus doesn’t as they don’t produce Aqua. Btw Aqua takes 0W20.

As per their latest owners / users manual for Toyota Aqua, only following 3 oil grades / viscosities have been recommended for JDM Aqua:

0w-16,
0w-20, and
5w-30.

All 03 meeting latest ILSAC and / or API ratings.

Yes but all of them should be class 4 synthetics.. not the class 2 synthetic oils which are a threat to the engine in extreme temperatures and their shearing ability is low.

Yeah bro jisdin ye sab khud apne hath se ring place karengay in the block ya usko dekhengay. Inko samjh jaega... That no engine consumes oil. And jo consume karna shuru kardeta hai it means, rings are gone bad...

Nothing is 100 pc ideally sealed and every engine consumes a small amount of oil .....that's even mentioned in service manuals of Toyota latest engines like zr-fe or zz-fe @Xulfiqar

that is because the combustion chamber is not hermetically sealed, and the engine is an airpump, The rings cannot seal when the engine is in overrun or engine braking is induced. This can cause oil to be pulled up. Lots of factors like these.

a clogged PCV can cause oil usage, so can a blocked breather vent. A super cheap oil in a very high op temperature engine can cause oil usage.

Yeah exactly you're right..
But people here are like, oil consumption oil consumption like its burning oil...
These are some parameters that are considered but can't be accomplished fully since we can't achieve fully smooth metal surfaces... But it's not like this that all engines are going to start burning oilll... They burn oil due to problems...

you are right - but with long drain interval oils which have a service life of 20,000 kms or so, you will see the level drop and then will be required to top it up. If someone complains on that - then they are ranting.

oil burn is bad and usually is accompanied by high usage like a litre of oil every 500 kms (thats really bad) - but if you lookup the normal oil consumption figures from toyota/honda etc, they claim that 1 litre/1200 kms is normal. LOL. (they say to to shoo away customers from bugging them to fix something)

And i think they've also written it for thr purpose you said. Because I've never got even a 0.1L consumption in it.
