Good detailed and reasonable reply. I'm a Mitsubishi Fan due to it's Quality and style. BTW What;s the BHP of Lancer 1.3L? Is it powerful enough to compete with other 1.3 L cars nowadays?

Don't know about 1.3. I have 1.6 cvt which makes 142Nm torque at 2750rpm and 105hp at 6000rpm. The low peak torque makes it quick at low rpms and on hill climbs. Climbs like a diesel engine.

I am also interested in buying Lancer. I have a budget of 10 lacs and another 100k on the side if it needs some setting up.

Which variant/transmission of the Lancer is best? Manual or AT? I would also travel to northern areas on the same car. In addition, I plan on keeping the car for years.

I don't know much about cars maintenance but I am interested in knowing more about them. Should I go for Lancer if I am kind of a newbie when it comes to maintaining the car?

Read my earlier comments. You should ideally keep 3-4 lacs to conduct a proper overhaul/maintenance of the car with genuine parts so that the car runs reliably afterwards.

Otherwise you’ll keep putting in cheap/kabali parts which will keep breaking down and you’ll keep returning to the workshop.

Check Parts Central on facebook. They can import stuff for you. I use them or Dewan karachi for parts.

What should be the primary and most important thing to check when buying a lancer? I have seen a couple in good condition but then I'm also not an expert. And since most mechanics don't understand this car, I'm not sure if I should heed to their advice.

Keep 5-6 lacs budget for restoring the car with all oem parts. The cars on Pakwheels are almost all crap.
