Congratulations IJC, Congratulations Amir Bhai
Though members are an important asset of any club, yet, a club cannot remain active or even exist for long unless it has selfless leadership. IJC is celebrating its 10th year of active existence only because of its leadership and that is where IJC and its members are truly blessed.
Came to know for the first time that a club by the name Islamabad Jeep Club exists when IJC hosted a friendly offroad speed competition in October 2008. It was a very hot day for Islamabad's October. Knew none in Islamabad, let alone at IJC. Was greeted at the event by a couple of very charming fellows, they had a welcoming smile, both were extremely humble in their conversation, but when it came to driving, despite having old 4x4s, both were fierce competitors.
By the end of the event, came to know that the two fellows were Amir Malik and Dr. Ehsan.
Kept following IJC's activities on Pakwheels and also participated in a couple of events like Patli Gali Quest, 2009 and Snow Cross, January 2010. The pleasant smile and humbleness remains the hallmark of the said persons till date. In the following years, because of the professional liabilities, Dr. Ehsan became a habitual absentee at events, leaving all the workload for Amir Bhai, which, Amir Bhai performed perfectly.
Amir Bhai's style is to share leadership with other active members and this we saw when different projects and events were managed by senior members like Suhaib Kiyani, Asad, Dr.NN, Zeb. Managing frequent aid sorties for the flood victims of Swat was a phenomenal task, which IJC managed to the best of its abilities.
Over years, mainly because of rallies, had developed close relations with several IJC members. During discussions, never heard even a single word of discontent from any of the members. Never heard that Amir Bhai had used club for his personal gain or that he ever tried to milk members for any extra income.
This is the sole reason why not only IJC survived 10 years but also flourished over time.
My heartiest congratulations to all members of IJC for being the member of Pakistan's oldest and largest club amongst all/any Offroad or Rally Clubs of Pakistan and lastly, for being lucky to have caring and honest leadership
