Secondly i think constable did the right thing. The cars that crossed zebra crossing did not do it intenionally, OP himself said that light turned green and suddenly it turned red. Obviously drivers did not see that coming and hence all that mess up.

Seat belt driver on the other hand has indeed committed an offence whereas the cars were not in fault because signal light behaved wrongly. So I don't know what the man did to constable but constable should have gave him ticket.

Do you know he NOW has the authority to put you in jail for arguing with him and standing in the way of law enforcement? NEVER argue with them.

Try to understand their psyche. They usually belong to poor families. They have to stand all day in scorching heat of the sun, in between the traffic fumes examining cars all day just to make a few ten thousands. Then they have to hitch hike their way to home, probably wife and kids in many cases.

They are already on a greater "Pissed off" level than whats evident from their facial expressions. Talk politely, do what they say and offer them a cold drink. They will smile back and let you go with respect. They are human beings, a few words well spoken in a caring manner causes them to lose tensions. I have driven around in Islamabad without a driver's license for like three years and never got challaned. (H)

I really don't understand the problem with the constable here. Instead, IMO, the man behaved in an extremely stupid, illiterate manner as if he has been raised very poorly. Ek tou seat belt nahi lagai, jab correction ki jaye tou upar se tamasha bhi banaya. Yahi masla hai Pakistani Koum ka. Kisi ko kuch kaho to wo kehta hai baakiyon ne b yunhe kia ya is say bhi bura kia pehle usko roko.

Aise logon se ek sawal krna chahie, easy he hai:

Bhai tu ne unki ya unho ne teri kabar main jana hai? Kayamat ko bhi kehna Ya ALLAH falan musalman muj se burra tha pehle usko dozakh main daalo. You are solely responsible for YOUR OWN actions. Don't tell the law enforcer HOW TO or WHERE to do his jobs.

First of all let me make it clear that law should be equal for ALL, rich, poor, black, brown, white, ugly, pretty, male & females.

But Islamabad Traffic Police is stepping the bounderies when it comes to stopping females and families.

Yesterday a man was driving with his wife and his car was stopped at a red light with several cars ahead of him, the light went from red to green and the cars started moving suddenly the light turns red again and some cars stop some cars break the signal some cars end up in the middle of the intersection the usual that happens Pakistan.

So as soon as the traffic light turned red three cars crossed the zebra crossing and made three lanes where only two were allowed, yes it was due to one bad driver who stuck his car in the middle, now the man with his wife parked behind the zebra crossing properly and stopped well ahead of time and was also in a proper lane he did not criss cross or anything, A traffic police officer while seeing the cars ahead chooses to go to this man and tell him he is not wearing his seatbelt.

What the man did was far worse than what the constable deserved and it was a clapping moment, but surely the constable realized the cars ahead have clearly committed a huge offence far far far worse than a seatbelt which 70-80% are not wearing anyways. The constable walked towards the three cars with a long face on the verge of crying and made one car reverse.

Anyways, more girls and families are pulled over then men and these constables are just laughing and smiling with them.

Not being cool. Majboori the bhai. I was the only one taking care of someone ill at home. I had to drive when I had to. Now I have been issued a proper driving license through a proper channel, Alhamdolillah.

getting into trouble after no license will even get you in big trouble ..so what ever the case might be ...it is offensive

those police officers know better who to catch n who not to

few things related to rich n poor family .... yes we know corruption is there

but still most of the tmes its drivers who waste their time and of traffic officers

if i was at their positions ..... i would have cracked down of challans every month ... thats how we learn

I think the ITP should be checking the tail lights and indicators on every car because 90% of taxis and older cars have no tail lights, it can kill / cause more accidents than not wearing a seatbelt. A seat belt saves when a blunder happens but a fused taillights causes the blunder.
Checking speeds / cell phones / and seatbelts is the easiest of stuff and rather than publicly playing with the tuff egos of pakistani drivers ITP should place Seatbelt reminder boards at entries and exits of major roads rather than stopping them and humiliating them when there are thousands others doing the same stuff.
The stopped me once "aap buhat tez arahe thay" and I told them ke andaaza laganay ke bjae speed gun rakho aur challan kro and they were quite after that. I have seen them giving chalaan to cars with orignal exhausts "aap ne do silencer lgae hue haen" although worldwide Decibel meter is used to check the noise level.
They have been given a lot of authority and they misuse it to its limits, I have no sympathies for a corrupt dept , they stand in sun or whatever.

You gave plausible arguments. You won. I agree to the lights part, I came across a totally blank vehicle with no lights, indicators or reflectors at maghrib time traveling hardly 70kph in the fast lane on motorway near Fateh Jhang when my car was going as fast as 140kph.

Pata nahe wo manhoos kaisay bach gya but I immediately stopped, called 130 and made sure that ******* doesn't travel on motorway without tail lights and that metal on four wheels again. Hats off to the toll plaza who let him drive on the highway in the firs place.

They get under trees every chance they get, they take umbrellas to control intersections, they dont care how long one side of the traffic passes, they let the traffic go until no other cars are coming, no matter how long it takes, sometimes we have to wait 5-10 mins at a traffic light being controlled by the ANGELS of ITP. we all know it, and 5-7 min isnt very long yes but if its 10 traffic lights its almost an hour.

Anyone can go and see the blue area road intersection which turns right towards F-8, is any ITP ANGEL controlling that? they are standing under trees signalling cars they see from a far with the driver not wearing a seatbelt and stop it while staying under the tree.

These ANGELS even make you park under a shade filled area.

How many times have you seen these ANGELS stop taxi's that break into lanes?

These ANGELS never stand in the sun even thou its their duty, when they are at an intersection they can do whatever they want and they DO whatever they want.

God be with these ANGELS that risk their lives on a daily basis.

Some times ITP is very very nice and at other times they can be aggressive and annoying. I had some fancy plates on with ISB written instead of ICT which was completely my fault and I admit it. While travelling home from Islamabad I was stopped at every single checkpost and the officer inquired about my plates. I talked to all of them politely and so did they. I told them that I was sorry and I would replace them as soon as I reach home. They were so nice that they didn't even ask for my registration papers and they let me go. You just have to be nice.

try volunteering with them this sunday to understand their work, and do stop those taxi wallas as that was a valid point in dis post.

need to cut some slack till metro is complete
everyone is frustrated these days from diversions and traffic
its good to be co operative and follow the law and make things easy for them and yourselves

maybe women are stopped more because they would give in for chalan more easily. my friends car was stopped thrice for 25% tints when his wife was driving alone.never stopped when he drives

one diplomat female( GOri) travelling with her driver was stopped and said to push little reverse - nothing on zebra crossing

gave warning to driver that zebra crossing is for pedestrians. He describe the rules and apologetically the driver said he will be

careful. the diplomat passes a thankyou smile for showing the law on the road

I would've loved to write of the experiences I have with the traffic police of Lahore but last time, I spent 20 minutes writing a detailed reply. It was deleted within 5 minutes of posting and my reviews were labelled as 'immature'. I did not make a huge deal out of it as i've gotten many other benefits from this site
But, I must say that women are targetted A LOT! And mehrans especially.

i guess it depends all on your luck
some people got challan even on using curtains

i am using jet black on rear screen with curtains on all 4 windows, so far going good also through check posts

I am lucky then. I was in ISB last month with my family and overlook speed limit sign i was stopped by the police he was about to give me ticket when i asked him "will you collect the cash here like on motorway or i need to go to bank" he said bank being saturday (lucky for me) i told him that i am going back to lahore and cant stop till monday there were some bikers there as well stopped by the police then also helped me alot in influencing them and i got my license back without any ticket.
