So AlhamdoLillah 40k service done for mirage. Bought the parts from Montgomery road and services done at Suzuki cantt. Following are the things I got done along with the rates;

Oil, oil filter and air filter replaced ( 2000+450+2200)
Brake pads replacement ( 1600 daihatsu Mira )
Spark plugs changed ( 3 for 1300 each, NGK iridium, same as vitz)
Throttle body service and Diagnostic scan (1500)
All fluid levels checked
Wheel balancing and alignment (800)
Service charges (1500)

Total cost 13900

By 2,000 rs oil change i can understand it was probably 20w50 or something of higher viscosity which obviously this car was never made for. You'd be better off with a bare minimum of 5w30 and even that is not the recommended oil. When getting throttle body services opt to get the egr cleaned alongside, that's where the actual carbon is gathered.

If it's cvt I believe it's meant for 40k. Original is available 1400rs a litre with usman autos, alternative is zic xp3 only but I have destroyed a tranny with it so consider it cheap but good for 10k intervals only. Also cvt oil procedure for mitsu is usually not removing a nut and replacing like engine oil, it needs to be flushed through the oil warmer lines.

What oil did you selected for the CVT? if yes then where did you find the CVT Oil?

I was riding in my friend's Mirage today and all of a sudden it dropped its RPMs from 2000 at 60KMH to 800 at 20KMH. The car's engine bay was very hot although it did not give an indication that something was wrong. 5 minutes later, it gave a check engine light. We had the car scanned and the scanner showed a malfunctioning MAF which was replaced at the spot.

After driving it for 5 more minutes, the car started to slow down and was shaking violently at only 40KM/h. The engine bay was extremely hot, no heat indication. Coolant and engine oil is new. Sparkplugs and airfilter is in good condition. The car's initial acceleration was so low that it could not even cross 20KM/h. Engine constantly makes a loud growl at 30KM/h and the whole car shakes violently if you give it full throttle which cuts off at 40KM/h.

On the OBD-II scanner, it gave no fault codes after the MAF replacement but the problem is still there. The mechanic said that the cat-con is damaged and maybe that is why its doing this. But how can a cat-con die at only 77000KMs?

The car is a 2013 1.0L Mitsubishi Mirage with a verified 4 grade auction sheet. Car has done 77000KMs so far.

Would really appreciate any response.

Seems like its a CVT issue... go ahead and check the CVT oil and other CVT things... Get the CVT checked thoroughly.

Check how your car run on the Nutral gear while running car... if it is running smothly then that means no break issue or no other suspension issues are there...

Reset the CVT settings and get it tuned...

make a video so we can figure out what type of sound is coming out... Since how long your friend is using this car?

Don't go for the catalytic convertor. The cvt oil should be due, so changing it is a better option but i believe it won't solve the problem. Check the plug coils, it looks like a coil issue.
Otherwise, get it tuned and check the o2 sensor, and clean it following the proper methods started on the Internet. I believe it should be any one of the above two. The coils or a faulty sensor.

It did not give an error on the OBD scanner regarding any problems in the CVT. The transmission was very smooth. Shifting between PRND and Ds was smooth but jerky after 40KM/h.

He has the car since 1 year now. He lives in Lahore and was on a visit to Islamabad.

I forgot to mention, the O2 sensor was replaced a month back when the car was misfiring on idle. Wouldn't faulty ignition coils worsen the fuel average because even while the car had that fault, it still gave 19KPL while coming from Saddar RWP to Bahria Town.

Will definitely have the coils looked at.

Cvt to be changed after max 30000. Only available cvt equivalent to mitsu dia queen j4 in Pakistan is amsoil cvt lahore distributor in model town
