Usually, the Original Mahindra front grille, Bonnet and the front mudguards are retained. The rear body ship ( as they call it ) is made afresh from steel sheets. They have made dies/moulds for the job. Also they have made farmas ( as they call it ) for embossing Ford or Willy on the sides of the Bonnet, Front wind screen panel or the rear body.

The project you are planning is very much feasible here and that too just for Rs. 70,000/-
Coz, one can have a running Mahindra CJ3B with a diesel engine for anything between Rs. 25K to 50 K. Just throw away the engine/tranny and get a 2C fitting for just 25K. Get the body dent perfected and painted for another 5K. Also get all the moving parts /suspension/ steering etc serviced/replaced for 8K. Then a set of 5 army guddi tyres for 7500/-.
Even such a jeep with a good 2C and good paint job in good running condition comes handy just for Rs. 75K to 90K. One can buy such jeep and get the wheels/brakes serviced before himself trying the steering wheel.
In Mandi Dabwali, A newly refurbished jeep with a sealed Toyota 2C and new tyres and a desi battery comes for Rs. 120K to 130K. That too with a New Registration with diesel engine endorsement and valid for the coming 15 years.
