These head units have a security feature that locks the device if it's removed from the car or maybe after battery is replaced. This is meant to discourage theft of head-units. When you buy a car from dealership, they also give you the unlock code which is unique for every car. So unless you know that code, or know some hack to bypass/reset it, it won't work.
