Jdm alto 2021 automatic headlights

so recently got a 2021 japanese alto normal variant which comes with automatic headlights but the issue is that it automatically turns on the headlights when i start to drive either its day time or night.
in night its ok but in day its frustrating
because it doesn’t get off

On my Chinese car, if the light switch is set at AUTO, during the day light do not come on. They only come on if the car goes through an underpass but go off as soon as it senses day light. However if I leave the light button on normal headlight ON position, it behaves like your car. So which position is the button on your car?

check the sensor first. why is it triggering the head lights to go on

Yup that is the correct position. As @nfssaad said. check the light sensor.

In most of such cases the dashboard top cover is the culprit.

i hv alto works 2021..had the same problem.removed the dashboard cover and its perfect..

Look at post #9 and #12.

I once drove a older gen renault clio (or was it a twingo, don't remember) in Germany. Turned out the car didn't have DRL's but did have the auto light stalk. Even on a bright day, the lights would turn on. Didn't know why but discovered the reason being that's its legally required to have your headlights ( Low beam Or DRL's) turned on due to the unpredictable weather condition on European roads as a safety precaution. In order to save up on the DRL costs, some of the cheaper cars simply come with the auto light stalk that will have your headlights turned on at all times right the moment you start the car until you shut it off ( or open the driver door after shut off ). This is different to having a sensor for the auto light stalk/switch to actively turn on/off the headlights
