As already mentioned, that different auction houses has different criteria for grading cars...
Some auction houses are very strict...
In this auction sheet there is only one XX at boot i.e. Boot is replaced in this car, and it is declared as R grade... Most of the houses do the same in case of XX...

By the way XX cars are very good buy, in Japan cars are insured so even if there is minor impact on fender, door, etc, they get it replaced under insurance, but these cars has less price in auction due to R grade...
If someone is importing car for himself, such R grade cars are best to import...
Now look at this auction sheet, there are 2 XX, left fender and right front door has been replaced, but look at the grades of the car, 4.5... may be due to very less mileage... but it is very rare to find such a case...

Right front fender and right rear door are also painted in good quality... W1
W1 = Paint of very good quality, cannot be noticed....
W2 = Paint of appropriate quality, cannot be noticed by a Mango Man (like me), but experts can pick it...
W3 = Paint of poor quality, needs repaint..
