@Aly,
Question was asked by a Pakwheels member regarding building or going for a Jeep Project, it might help U.
"It will be a good idea to have Wrangler on CJ-7 Chassis, It’s not very much hard to find one. Which City R U from?
In Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, it’s not difficult to find one. U can look in the classifieds and can also visit the local Jeep workshops.
In case ur friend is only going to for Wrangler on CJ-5 chassis then the chassis is going to be modified as Wrangler body fits on a wider & longer chassis.
Engine Selection on CJ-5 Chassis Wrangler:
2L OR 3L:
These engines provide sufficient power & Torque to propel CJ-5 (Wrangler Body) or Willys MB & M38 Jeeps.
2L-T:
This engine is a good balance of economy and power.
Being Turbo Charged, they have more power.
2L-TE: EFI version of the 2L-T engine. It has a larger head as compared to the non-Efi versions.
Engine Selection on CJ-7 Chassis:
3B or 13B-T Engines:
3B’s rated power is 90hp@3500rpm
13B-T it’s rated power is 120hp@3400rpm. It is turbocharged as compare to 3B
& it produces a great power, which the Jeep owner is going to Love.
1KZ-TE:
The 1KZ-TE is Toyota’s turbocharged replacement for the 3L. This 3.0 liter engine is a new design from the ground up. It boasts high tech features such as electronically controlled fuel injection and engine and emissions management systems. The result is outstanding performance from a lightweight engine, but for a pretty heavy price.
Chassis & Body:
CJ-7 Chassis is 10” long and bit wider as compare to CJ-5. U can find CJ-7 original body which, with some modifications on the fenders, hood & grill can be given a wrangler shape. Or in the local market the Jeeps workshops are using locally built body tub for wrangler shape it’s an alternate to replace if original CJ-7 body is not available.
But in case no CJ-7 chassis available then CJ-5 chassis can be used for wrangler shape AFTER some modification.
Transmission Selection:
Wrangler Shape on CJ-5 chassis:
Toyota Parado/Surf OR Rocky’s 5 speed manual Transmission works well.
Suspension:
For Wrangler shape on CJ-5 Chassis:
Rocky’s Front and Rear Axels are completely reliable and great in performance.
For CJ-7/Wrangler:
Rocky’s Suspension/Axels are good but if you use Parado’s Suspension that’s great.
Jeep Project Cost:
It always depends on your choice of parts. And mostly on Engine, Transmission and Suspension. If u want to go for a project of nicely restored CJ-7 wrangler shape or CJ-5 wrangler shape it will cost U in between 400,000/- Rs. to 600,000/- Rs".
