That’s good news. These F16s will come equipped free of charge with a secretly hidden "chip" tracking the location of aircraft so that Americans would know where its parked or is flying to.

Another batch of four F-16s joins PAF

ISLAMABAD: A simple but impressive ceremony for handing over of four, F-16 aircraft to Pakistan Air Force was held at PAF Base Mushaf, Sargodha on Saturday. Air Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Operations), Pakistan Air Force received the Fighting Falcons from Lt Gen Gary L. North, Commander 9th Air Force and USAF Central Command. Four aircraft have already arrived in Pakistan.

The batch of aircraft which arrived today have the same operational capability as of the already possessed F-16 aircraft by the PAF and will significantly augment its combat capability in defending the aerial frontiers of Pakistan.

The last batch of remaining four F-16 aircraft would be handed over to PAF on July 28, 2008. A contingent of high-ranking officials from Air Forces of Pakistan and United States were also present on the occasion.

2. Are we just getting 8 F16s, I thought they were supposed to be 16 or more?

2- PAF will get total of 30 F-16s [12 refurbished + 18 new]

Thx for the info. Strangely the news item suggests that last batch of 4 F16 will reach Pak on 28 July. If it’s true then probably a total of 8 F16s have already reached. I now recall two of them came as a token of gratitude when Lal Masjid Operation was on. What about the other 2? Have they already reached?

GEO is usually inaccurate. Last batch is of 2 aircrafts and not 4.

PAF has already received six F-16s and four more came on June 28, 2008. Last two F-16s will be received by the end of July. [Dawn News]

the first 50 JF-17 will in cooperate Chinese systems such as radar, avionics, fire control, and russian RD-93 so we can call this block 1.. next 100 will have French RC-400 radar french avionics and advance air to air missile MICA block 2. mean while 50 jf-17 block 1 will be upgraded with RC-400 and french avionics..
PAF will not restrict it self with only 1 or 2 blocks of JF-17s but its most likely that last 50-100 JF-17 will be a new type...
possibly with advance AESA radar TVC engine and more fire power..

-20 LCA will be produced by 2011 and the other 20 by 2016.
-Final Operational Clearance (FOC) expected by the year 2012-2013
-The second track should be for the re-engined Tejas Mk 2 which can be produced in the required numbers by 2020 or so. Finally, in the third track we can look at Tejas Mk 3 fitted with the Kaveri Mk 2 engine jointly developed with a foreign partner in the 2025 time frame. This aircraft should have Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar.

-Kaveri engine was fine for the LCA programme when it started. But as we have shifted the goal-post, which is the LCA weight, the Kaveri engine does not meet the ASR requirement. In the meantime, I am also requesting GTRE that technologies are available in the world to make the Kaveri engine fulfil the ASR requirements.
We used GE 404 F2J3 engine for the test. However, the latest test of LSP 2 was done with GE 404 IN20 engine, which is slightly more powerful than the earlier one. The IAF, in what are called the Air Staff Requirements (ASR), is asking for certain parameters to be met. Both the engines now fitted on the LCA do not meet the ASR completely.

What's the use of having F-16 now, after i don't know 10 or twenty years, What's the use if I pay someone for a latest laptop and he gives it to me 5 years later when P10 Laptops are available, I will smash it on his head. They Should just Gift the F-16 Back, They are just toys and are wasting precious fuel.

ok first of all i aint taking US side here.. these 24 refurbished F-16s are free and we are only have to pay 10-13 million dollars each for the mid life upgrade which will bring them to block 52 spec! PAF will eventully have 60 upgraded F-16s and 18 New ones... they will be armed with one of the most advanced air to air missile AMRAAM Aim-120C5!
