PAF trained many air force pilots and ground maintenance crew around middle east including Saudi Arabia. Part of PAF strategy appears to gain superiority advantage in training and utilize it for building diplomatic ties by providing training services at cost effective rates.

The famous event came during Arab-Israeli war. Tho a stupid was in its own context and utter example of Arab disorganization the PAF crew still deserved appreciation in battle field performance when other pilots were making ridiculous mistakes under pressure.

The quality of its men is the secret weapon of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and training is the key to their success. Manpower is Pakistan's most valuable resource. By investing heavily in its young men, the PAF maintains a decisive edge over potential enemies. Flight training is rigorous and simulates the combat arena as closely as possible. Emphasis is placed on utilizing simulators and on squeezing every ounce of training from each precious flight hour. A single F-16 flight hour, for example, costs $2,200.

Now lets ends this IAF vs PAF and who can kick whose ass.. this may be highly debatable but impossible to prove without real engagement. Remember US never imagined getting stuck in Iraq like they are today. Neither anyone thought of them humiliation in Afghanistan.

Your best of the best machines will fail if men behind them have no brains. The most superior aircraft may never see light in real battle field because a clever enemy bombed all your runways and airbases.

Rumors that next Pakistani project will be B57 like heavy bomber which pakistan possessed during 50's but is phased out globally now.

If yu want to compare equipment capability then Russian aeronautics biggest hindrance is their ground maintaenence equipment. Extremely bulky, can only be transported by land or sea and no cross compatibility between air craft families. So a servicing base must maintain a set for each type of aircraft in their collection.

On the other side, Chinese design philosophy is highly modular with cross compatibility and detachable components for rapid delivery by air. Its follows a design of common core with pluggable modules so it can universally be used to service any type of aircraft in one family as well highly based on civilian components to evade sanctions which is a positive point for Pakistan.

JF-17 is a 4th generation plane and wasnt intended to compete with 5th Generation planes.

Air Defence of Pakistan is the responsibility of PAF and not Pak Army. For your information IAF was never called off because of the shooting down of two jets by Army. They started with high level laser guided bombing.

I agree that some good performance was shown in 65 by PAF but look at the results of 71 and KARGAL.

JF 17 is developed by PAKISTAN because of only one reason.

Dear Go read history again, and not go far take Kargil only, PAF was never was deployed in the conflict, only patrol missions were flown and that too within the air space of Pakistan, IAF on the other hand were fully war deployed and they were flying CAS (close air support) & CAC (close air cover) mission that why there two aircrafts were shot down (Mig 27 & Mig 21)

PAF currently has 530 fighter planes. However, at any given instance, around 400 fighters are operational. Some 70 of the Mirages have been given ROSE(Retrofit Of Strike Element) which includes upgraded cockpit instrumentation, Grifo-M Radar and BVR. The F-7PGs and F-16s are the PAF's main multi-role fighter aircraft - while the F-7P is a limited interceptor/ground-strike aircraft.

This is just for anyone's information that first time in history of PAF & IAF the numerical superiority enjoyed by IAF is no more there, IAF with its aging fleets of Mig 21 Bison and Jaguars is almost as par with PAF and that is why they are looking for 126 fighters to fill the gap, so far no success

Indian Airforce and Army has always believed in quantity.
While discussing weaknesses of PAF one should remember that we faced international sanctions which proved to be a blessing in disguise to force us to go for indigenous Planes, Tanks(Al-Khalid) and Submarines(Agusta 90B). You will see some good changes till 2010.
