First of all don't forget its 2007 trip

And, dont get confused about that. There are no two thoughts. Deosai is a pure 4x4 hardcore jeep track. There are many muddy patches and water stream crossings where only jeeps can cross. Moreover, the way to Skardu just after exiting Deosai National Park is a dangerous jeep track downhill.

The road from KKH to Astore to Chillam Chauki is manageable with cars as well but not Deosai. And also once you go down to valley that leads to Sadpara Lake and Skardu, that can also be done with a car but climb up to Deosai from either side and then the drive within Deosai is only jeepable.

Thanks for the info.... Do you have any vague idea what will be the approximate rent of a jeep from Astore to Skardu via Deosai or the from Skardu to Deosai?
Also was there public transport from Astore to KKH? i.e Buses Hiaces etc.

Hiaces are common on Astore route and rocket buses are also seen in quite a few numbers.

However, i dont have any idea about the rentals. You may have to check with someone in the relevant areas. Sorry about that

We will be doing another trekking trip in 2011 summer inshallah and you are most welcome to join along with your friends and i am not that young u know almost 30 so the difference is reduced to half
