July 1-7 2007: KKH, Astore, Skardu, Khaplu, Hunza Trip

Now the nalah was looking like a small river and flow was smoother

It drizzled for a few moments and now Astore valley was visible with much more greener terrain

After the turn to right in the distance we entered the Astore town area

Once we reached Astore, we went to the main bazar and got 3 rooms in a hotel.

We put our luggage in the rooms and ordered lunch. Meanwhile it seemed the best idea to take some rest

We ate quite a few and finally the owner couldn't remain nice and stopped us :S

The driver went for a quick checkup of jeep and after some time we left for Rama Lake trek.

I forgot the name of this place but its near Sazin. There is a hotel just behind this white top mosque.
Try Kabuly Pulao from there if someone gets a chance

The nalah passing in the background here is used to produce electricity for this local area. The water pressure was really high and was making lots of noise.

Its not a surprise at all that Babaey Travelling Threads [as people call and i agree ] was able to recognise a turn on KKH just from a pic

It will definitely get greener once we move towards Gorikot and onwards to Chillam Chauki for Deosai plains.

The path of Rama Lake from Astore is also quite green.

There is a 4km jeep track from Astore town that goes above to PTDC rest house just before Rama Lake. The jeep went a little ahead of the rest house and from there we started our trek to Rama Lake

It was raining on and off since last hour or so. So, i kept my Sony Cybershot in the bag to reach and capture the lake safely while mobiles were doing the business on our trek to Rama Lake.
