No doubt they have amazingly transformed the city into wonderland. My last visit was in 2006 and still i felt lots of things changed in 5 years.
Well the real estate genie almost cost them their lives but somehow Dubai survived and now tourism is getting back to full swing.
Aquarium ticket was AED50.
Food cost depends on restaurants. You can get a full meal at a desi restaurant for about AED10. A fast food meal would cost around AED20-25. And a good restaurant will cost around AED80-100.
Travelling is very cheap and very expensive. Metro and buses are quite cheap. From Deira (in the heart of old Dubai), it would cost around AED6.5 on metro to reach Ibn-e-Batuta Mall which is on the other end and on almost outskirts of the city. Bus would charge around AED5 and a taxi would take around AED80-90 for the same trip. Taxis use meters so no bargaining and their meter starts around AED3 or 4.
Buses and metro take lots of travelling time and during week days all the malls close around 10-10:30 p.m. so choose the mode on the basis of available time.
But i have to say public transport has hugely improved as compared to my last visit.
