yaar the thing is RAW is like negatives of the photo.
When camera takes pics, it does all the processing within camera and saves it as JPEG.
If u shoot RAW then camera does not do the processing and u can do it yourself later on like developing the negatives.
The details of the scene reserved in 14 bit RAW files is much more as compared to 8 bit JPEG files.
So, if u try to apply same processing on a JPEG file then it will be messed up. JPEG can be processed but to very little extent. While RAW files have large room to process exposure, white balance, sharpness, colours and noise levels.
The reason i shoot RAW is that my 70% shots are from moving vehicles and i do not have much time to take shots of same scene so RAW helps a lot even if some of the camera settings were not ideal for the scene which i can fix later on.
