Aoa. Guys who have just returned from Naran, can you please comment on the road conditions. I am planning to go in the first week of July inhsa Allah and want to know if it is safe to take your car (with moon soon starting in the first week) - especially low clearance cars like City or Swift. Please also comment on the road condition to Shogran. Keeping in mind all the looting news coming in, looks like Saif-ul-malook is the only place one can visit safely with family.

Bro the best place to visit (in terms of security) is shoogran, siri paye, lake saif ul malook and lalazar, even road till jalkhad is secure and very beautiful. You can take your swift to shoogran, expect a patchy road in start and then it will be fine, similarly, road till jalkhad is OK for swift, however at this time, there are 1-2 glaciers after naran which may be problematic to cross. I guess these will melt by the time you visit.

thats unfortunate. We took this ride couple of days back and the guide said it was very safe, he told that last safety measure would be to throw rope from boat to the person who has slipped out. And he said we never had to throw rope till to date. My suggestion to those who have to do rafting is, you have to be good swimmer otherwise take 3 km's route at max, if rafting is still open.

This thread has been great source to get updates and I'll definitely share our experience and trip there and aim to this post is just to know if anybody else is planning to travel same day or will be there on weekend then we might be tie up and go in group to avoid those looters attacks etc.

I just wanted to share an idea about hotels.

This is what we did in our first trip.

We stayed in Kaghan and made it our base for all trips with a rented jeep for 5 days.

Hotels in Kaghan are really cheap as compared to Naran and it is very peaceful.

If u want to avoid rush of Naran and have own vehicle or rented jeep then better stay in Kaghan and move into valley from there.

Just another idea to avoid overcharging

the plan is of five days
our stay will be at Naran. nd further visits will be lalazar, lake saif ul maluk nd lake lolusar.

i just need some further assistance regarding security issues from those who've returned from naran recently. specialy is it safe to go lake lolusar?

We are leaving on this coming Friday for skardu from the Naran - Challas route - A person in Skardu told us that you can use the other route i-e the path that leads to the Chillas village instead of crossing Babusar pass - As per the security situation mentioned in this thread, the guy in Skardu told us that it happened for like 4-5 times this year so far BUT he is convinced that it is not a FREQUENT activity and also the security officials (Police) have set up check posts over the areas mentioned by a fellow pak wheeler - I just hope we can reach Skardu safely - By the way the Skardu guy is a reference of a Squardon leader and i hope he is not effing with us.

One thing he said is that you can get cash from Skardu as the city have 4-5 ATMs available and are usually working.

Dear Skt_Z4....if you scroll back a few pages on the same thread then you will notice that we have been 'discussing' the real life security situation. Just read up a few pages before the one when you joined in and your questions would be cleared and you will get a better perspective of the situation...still if you need help, holla back...Regards

If you are with family, I will STRONGLY advise you NOT to go beyond Lulusar Lake under any circumstances....If you are alone or with a group of friends and want to go to Babusar Top, I'd advise that you guys carry licensed arms....If I was not with family, I would def go to Babusar Top. To go beyond Babusar Top to Chilas, be aware that the road is closed due to snow and even if the road was open, you would be under security threat

bro self defense is good, Islam teaches us the same as well, but we should not think aggressive specially in family outings. They were around 15 people looting jeeps, messing with such shameless and brainless souls is hurting your own self.

Well someone will have to solve this problem.SOmeone should take weopons with him and shoot them.Pakistani awam apna khud ka business hi khraab krne per tule hue hain .The dont understand if tourists will not come how will they earn

I think there is an ATM machine at start of bazar but dunno if it works regularly.

Better to take cash from Abbottabad or Mansehra.
