Travelling to Kaghan/Naran is not recommended these days. I visited from 20-23 Aug and had a nightmare experience. Got stuck in land slidings at several places for hours, was amazed to see so much rush in naran/shogran, room rents were sky high, jeep availability and rates were also a big concern.
I stayed at a small hotel in Naran and had to pay Rs. 6000 for one night. jeep took Rs. 2500 for Saif ul Maluk. Hotels at shogran were also above Rs. 5000 per night for a middle level hotel. The worst thing was the rush. There was not much difference between Murree and Naran. The Naran Bazaar was giving a feeling of Murree Mall. It took me around 30 mins to cross the Bazaar on car.
Regarding the security concerns, its totally safe to travel through all areas. The sectarian killings were totally targeted and they killed only selected people whom they had in their plan. Locals were really not moved by the killings.
Overall, my experience was a pathetic one and i would not recommend travelling to those areas in Eid days. Atleast i wont travel such a long distance just to see bundles of people.
