Assalam Alaikum.
I drove my Civic Prosmatec 2003 with family, Islamabad ~ Karachi during Ramadaan of 2015 and returned on 15[SUP]th[/SUP] of August. Alhamdolillah, went well and we enjoyed a lot. The distance between my Karachi and Islamabad residences is 1538 km.
Since the inquiry is about Karachi ~ Islamabad route: We left Karachi around 0730 hours and passed Hyderabad ~ Moro ~ Sukkur. Had lunch at Taj restaurant Rohri. Drove through Sadiqabad ~ Khan Bela, Ahmedpur East and took exit from N5 at the Lodhran ~ Khanewal Bypass.
Spent night at La Taska Village and Restaurant, Lodhraan.
Started late around 1100 hours, drove through Dunyapur, Qutubpur and Entered N5 again at Khanewal. Left N5 again at Kacha Khoo and passed through Abdul Hakeem, Pir Mahal, Rajana, Toba and entered M4 after crossing Gojra. Reached home around midnight.
Road condition in Sindh province has considerably improved Alhamdolillah but the Karachi ~ Hyderabad patch (so-called M9) needs immediate attention from Highway Authority.
On the highways I prefer to refuel my vehicle from Taj Petroleum, and immediately after the fuel gauge hits 50% capacity mark. It is good that Taj outlets usually at the same intervals.
My point of concern: Some of my (very respected) PW friends have mentioned their doubts about Honda’s performance on the highways. Sorry brothers, you are underestimating this baby. We have travelled almost everywhere in our Honda 2003, including locations in AJK and KPK and found it very reliable, tough and comfortable vehicle for ‘paagalpan’ tours.
I feel the above information will be useful for you; however feel free to ask for any information.
I wish you and all others a safe and enjoyable journey they are planning.
