How You Break-In This Engine After Overhaul??

1) Warmed up the engine to optimal temperature before drive.
2) Drove the car at 50-60 kmph for first 1000 Kms with 2 people max.
3) Didn't drive it on constant speed for long duration of time.
4) Let the car decelerate (in gear) for proper valve seating.
5) No A/C (it is winter season so it wasn't needed anyway)
6) 1st oil change and tappet adjustment at 1000 Kms

Good...Proper Seating Of Rings Done In 1st Few Km's Of Running...That's What Matter Most In Rebuild.....

Take Engine To Operating Temp....
Recommended To Revv It Upto 2k-2.5k RPM..Dont Let It Idle...So Oil Pump Can Splash Oil Nice And Good Across Engine And Specially Cylinder Walls....Once Temp Achieved...... Check For Leaks
Drive At 40-50% Engine Revvs ...
Accelerate In 1st 3-4 Gears Then Deaccelerate .....
Then Go Upto 60% And Do Same.....Accelerate And Deaccelerate.....
Change Variation And It Will Be Done In 1st Few 10-20km.....
Then Drive Normally ...After 1st 20-50km....Oil Change Is Recommended.....Then Pour Fresh Oil/Filter And Use Upto 2500-3000km With Ease

Imp Is To Keep Everything Factory Stock Tappets /Timings .....If Proper Clearance Is Kept And Engine Is Well Assembled With All Need fulls Taken Care Off....Engine Overhaul Actually Requires Patience...A LOT Of It....To Take Care Of Every Small Bit As It Will Be Packed Again To Run For Another thousands of Km's.....So Rushing Inn Is Not The Way....If You Properly Clean/Bore And Then Properly Assemble Engine And Then Break-In Nicely....Its Good For Another Thousand Of KM's....

All You Need Is Someone Willing To Do All That...Rather Than Just Slamming Parts

There is no oil leak now. I park the car on marble floor. No spots. I am also keeping an eye on engine oil and coolant level. No reduction.
You are right, it require patience. I took three days leave from my office for this rebuild.
Completing the brake-in period also requires a lot of time and care.
One of the reasons of selecting a mechanic near my home is that I can always go to him even for minor things and he always give proper time to my vehicle.

Keep In Mind That All The Break-In Job Will Be Done In This Time.....So Its Better To Replace It As All The Debris Will BE In Oil ....Keep In Mind You Wont Be Using Any Expensive Fully Synthetic Oil With Addictive For Break-In....!

SGO is for 5000 KM.
For conscious people, it is 4000 KM. 2500 KM is a joke.

After overhaul, first oil change matters. After that change oil after regular interval.

SGO Premium is very cheap engine oil, the only reason I am using it is because it is API SG.
Newer engine oils are API SM/SN and they are not recommended for SA-310.
Also, other than this car, I have two more cars, so the monthly mileage is divided.
2500 Kms is the maximum it would do in three months.

SGP ultimate is api sm and not recommended for g10a btw you decide drain interval of engine oil by price ? :S

SGO Ultimate is not recommended for SA-310 that is why I am using SGO Premium.

If your engine gets nice hot at operating temps then 4-5k is good interval. it doesn't matter if its api sg or sn. changing oil too early is not good as sometimes oil doesn't past its cleaning stage and we change it.

Yes the operating temperature is perfect after installing SGP thermostat and temperature sending unit.

If transporters start changing oil after short intervals, bas phir ho gya karobar. And their cars still run better with longer change intervals.
Suzuki recommends changing oil between 4000 - 5000 KM. Do not exceed 5k limit. Besides if your car idles a lot in city traffic, better get it changed before 4,000. The color of oil and finger touch and rub test will also tell the story whether you should change oil now or wait.

I drive about 2500km with SGO premium in 6 months and car gets at operating temp. I believe i can extend time period of changing oil. What do you say?

I'll be moving on to delo gold ultra on next oil change.

yes sure! 5k kms would be good enough. Delo will be better then this sgo premium, it has really better additive package then this oil and has very good tbn too.
