Long ago when the w124/201 mercedes benz sedans were to be sold, the gents at sindelfingen almost cancelled the rhd versions, the rhd cars of those were sort of a last patch attempt in the end which can be noticed in the cars themselves too

Lucky group of companies might be financially strong at the moment but please don't forget the demise of DFML.

Dewan Mushtaq was also a large conglomerate in polyester, cotton yarn, sugar, cement and petroleum businesses. They formed Dewan Farooque Motors and signed agreements for Kia and Hyundai vehicles assembly in Pakistan in late nineties.

DFML ended up quite bad after just 7-8 years of operations mainly because of poor financial management. Dewan group had borrowed heavy loans for their never ending business diversification plans. Although, the Dewans are still in business and enjoying their life, but they left their customers (of Kia Spectra, Kia Classic and Kia Sportage) wondering why did they buy these vehicles at the first place. No resale, no parts availability, and no after sales service support.

Since you had shared financials of the Lucky group I thought you would prove me wrong by comparing and contrasting business strategies of both the companies, their financial management, investments, sourcing of funds etc.

But its a known fact that no one “wants” to buy a Kia Cerato, its usually the last option they have because the more “normal” choices are usually out of reach.

I fail to understand how people can still buy these vehicles when they are known to be built by charsee mawaali workers and sold with a warranty that makes no sense. And the shining star on top of this entire mudpie is that it costs a great deal more to service and keep up with.

I as a normal person like my life simple. If I own a machine I chose it from looking at its legacy and its proven run. And its servicability should be easy and accessible in my country of purchase.

They actually went down after the owner passed away, the sons divided everything and gave DFML to one brother, so inorder to even things out with the siblings, he took a bank loan to pay them off

I have seen a new registered Kia Rio (BRP series 2020) on route from PQA to home. This is a new car in black color. The older was 2018 registration

Dewan are actually “deewanay” and thats what took them down.

No... The owner was Dewan Umar Farooque, who passed away in 1992. His two sons Dewan Zia and Dewan Yousaf used to run the group. Zia used to see the fibre and petroleum companies, while Yousaf took over the sugar mills and formed Dewan Farooque Motors (DFML) in late nineties. He also established other companies.

The main reason of the group's Rs. 40 billion default (in 2008) was purchase of Pakland Cement in 2004. The car manufacturing by DFML also stopped in 2008. Dewan Yousaf has since been trying to revive the auto company.

In 2018 he partnered with Deahan Motors to relaunch Shehzore.
