I have a feeling that they have stripped Picanto to make its pricing competitive.
Picanto will be the earning item...

They have actually stripped an entire generation.. with Older generation, more bells and whistles would have worked.. less features and older generation does not bring good things to buyer who is already skeptical about auto sector and monopoly of automakers. Keep in mind Picanto is targeted as mass market product and it should have been inline with international variant as far as generation, like they did in case of Sportage.. There are very less buyer of sportage and Picanto is the impression building segment

I agree to that... but looking at the our current market situation we need a reasonable car with good pricing...
People will only buy it if price is attractive thats what actually happened in case of Sportage, generation point is also there but in that case its a 5 mil vehicle and its clientele is different .
One thing that’s gonna help KIA is that imports are gone so they just have to compete with Shitzuki only.

Sir, KIA starting building plant in 2017.. The inflation was not like the way it is today. They imported the plant assembly line way back and at much lower price as we discussed, it is mostly a dismantled stamping equipment from any plant where 2nd generation is discontinued.. KIA planned for 2nd generation much before all this inflation. The point is their intentions were right away bringing an older generation. They didn't made an overnight decision in 2019.

Also all that kia media talk, they were saying whatever is on display at Karachi auto expo, the pakistan version will be much more equipped.. I mean I do see difference like all power windows and power mirrors but then they cut on few things as well so overall nothing much different.

Sportage clintage is different but people also expected that Kia do things differently from current players.. Bringing older generation does not help at all. Yes they will still sell Picanto and people will buy it but overall in newer market, you, me and we all wanted to see different things. Picanto could have build the trust. Lesser feature on 3rd generation was fine but lesser and then older , make things complicated at least for me. Again it's my opinion and everyone has their own perspective

Mostly everything on Picanto and Sportage is imported and I am talking about interior , dashboard, door panels and even seats. The actual quality will be known when local supplier comes into action and KIA starts using local dashboards and other plastic parts. Here is when problem starts as it's not on par with intentional quality of fit and finish and built quality.

I hope KIA QA/ QC make strict quality standards. It is same like Civic and Cirolla built quality was top notch when indus and Honda started building locally decades ago.. overtime they started cutting corners and when local supplier and parts came into the production line.

I had a detailed chat with a person who supplied resins to Honda for dashboard molding and according to him, the quality of local dashboards are bad because of lower quality of resin and molding system. Resins being main issue. Changing the resin to an overseas spec increase the price of Civic dash by twice the price and reduce profit margins for Atlas.. so they want a dashboard with just an OK quality not as good as in Thailand, Indonesia , US or anywhere else.

I would buy a 660cc fully equipped car over this any day. There's zero reason to buy this. It has no resale, there is hardly any part availability. Why not get a JDM that has more or less the same disadvantages but offers significantly more?

There are hardly any decent JDMs available in the market. Most are Grade R or have no auction sheet with them. A new car is after all a new car with after sales and warranty. Lets not discredit right away. Let it launch first. Lets see the price they are offering.

But if its priced like a cultus, I'd buy cultus any day over it cos that car isn't bad at all.
Sportage pricing was bit of a surprise so a tiny bit of hope for this but bura scene hi lagraha

True this. Those who are sensible will go for the first few 100 cars which will be 90% imported parts with only assembly done in Pakistan..
