Yesterday called Kia pothohar about tentative date for remaining payment on December expected delivery of Picanto. To my surprise they informed me that they backlog of upto 4 monhts. Means June expected deliveries are not made yet.

Is the situation this bad?

Yes, unfortunately, my delivery was in October and till today Dealer has not confirmed anything

did you booked on full payment or if not did they ask you for remaining payment in the month before tentative delivery?

it was financed by Bank, i assume they paid full amount.

I booked Picanto M/T. The delivery month is Oct. Status unknown from showroom. Any updates!!! Where delivery date can be confirmed?

I am also owner of picanto M/T. I have discussed the same matter with the dealership. They informed that picanto is fitted with rotary A/C Compressor, which is different from other compressors. So, it can not tripped.

Like you, i was owner of Cultus (VXL) purchased in March-2021. In end july, 2021, my friend purchased manual Picanto and i drove it for 45 mins. On the same day, i posted add of my Cultus (VXL) and sold in August, 2021. Since 2018, I purchased/sold three cultus (VXL) due to manufacturing issue like squeaking noise from the suspension and interior. However, On August 13, 2021, i booked Picanto M/T on full payment, and i was lucky enough to get its delivery on August 26, 2021. I am very much happy with its built quality, comfort, road grip and enjoying the ride. So far, i have traveled from ISB to Multan, a very fantastic tour nice road grip, flawless A/C Performance. Now, its giving me Avg. 16.5 in ISB. The Picanto M/T has a good pick and power.

Dealerships are not giving any clear answer.

Checked online, surprised to know that Picanto Automatic is now 1.2 lac cheaper than Cultus Ags. Hope this is true

Yes

Picanto AT is 21.5 and cultus Ags is 22.72.

But if you add alloys and lcd , the difference becomes 40 thousand only.

Yeah initially was higher than cultus but considering its fully automatic (more expensive to develop than AGS) and better built quality a good package nonetheless a bit cheaper finally this time now.
Seems KIA is finally taking Picanto's marketing seriously, the car's got the potential to overthrow atleast the AGS cultus

and what about consideration of fuel consumption/service network/spare part availability?

I checked the prices of spare parts it more or less the same as Cultus, tho service network still lags compared to Suzuki.
As for fuel consumption since its a conventional auto compared to AGS the fuel part is understandable but consumer feedback is that it gives an avg of 14 in city after first 1000KM on average. So up to individual on which part will they can compromise when choosing between the two.
For me personally Picanto gives a more premium or JDM feel quality and brand wise.

1: illuminated glove box
2: driver and passenger floor lighting
3: retained power after turning engine off. (So that windows can be rolled up, without having to re-do egnition switch)
4: trunk open indicator on dashboard
5: ISOFIX for child seat
6: central locking operable from passenger and driver door
7: 02 clasp knife key sets with immobiliser
8: organiser tray above spare tire in trunk
9: auto lights off when key out of ignition (In case Anyone forgets to turnoff headlights, all of the lights will be automatically turned off after car is locked in few minutes)
10: DLRs ( even though I don't really agree with their use)
11: Better road safety ratings as compared to the other cars. Cultus and alto have never had a road safety test.
12: lock lights don't flash when a door, trunk or the bonnet is open.
13: adjustable head rest for all 05 passengers
14: driver side seat height adjustment
15 :heated side mirrors
16: Fully Automatic gear
17: 5 seat belts
18: soild body + bulit quality
19: extra space box under front passenger seat
20: separate ash tray

Lol. Most of these are available in corolla's and civics. So you can't say all local cars
