So three variants is in 2.4L fwd (175hp), 2.4L awd (175hp) and 3.5L V6 FWD (272hp). Disappoint to see no awd in 3.5 V6.

I for one see no point of buying this in 2.4 engine.
It’s better to get sportage which offers same power( power to weight ratio) sportage even might feel faster, same features and with less price ( atleast 2 million cheaper)

The only thing that makes sense in this vehicle is V6 yes it’s not awd that’s a bummer but still it would give power like no one else in it’s class.

KIA dealership event regarding Sorento is on Tuesday. Many things will be cleared like price.

Overall NOT so very well organized event.. invitees test drove Sorento and created content. 0 to 100 was recorded in range of 9 seconds for V6.

People felt Sorento comfortable and more planted and that's obvious because it's on car platform and Fortuner as an existing product in the segment is a pickup truck so, obviously difference was light and day.

KIA was asked about 4th generation and they responded, Pakistan is very small market and KIA South Korea don't provide CKD kits just that quickly for a newly released model. obviously we all knew here in this group that it's not easy to launch a new product inline with international model.

This means that we will not see a 4th generation Sorento anytime soon. I believe we might remain a generation behind like Picanto. I also think we will not see a replacement Sportage soon after international reveal.

As of Cerato, the company official didn't accept or deny of its existence. As of now nothing is confirmed.

Few of my friends were disappointed to see 3rd Gen shape as they all thought new shape 4th gen Sorento will be coming. Told them if the price of Sorento is less than Fortuner and has capacity of 7 seaters it will sell but not like Fortuner.

So folks, some real updates:

3.5 V6 FWD and 2.4L AWD have almost the same feature set interior and exterior-wise. Pano s/r, auto tailgate, wireless phone charging etc. 2 tone interior as someone shared here. 6 airbags.

2.4L FWD has all black interior (looked real good) , no powered passenger seat, 2 airbags and no powered tailgate. Rest KIA has been pretty generous on the base model too.

V6 drives like a crazy beast and the vehicle has the brakes to match the crazy.

AWD did not feel under-powered at all - quite a solid option if they keep it around the 7.5m mark. Blows petrol Fortuner away power and drive wise (understand that they're different class of vehicles but still).

And I was wrong about pearl white - not happening. But some solid new colors we haven't seen before.

All in all, excited about this vehicle. Have a feeling ppl will forget the 4th gen tragedy shortly and this will capture a significant share of the market.

2.4 AWD sounds nice I’m more interested in it then v6 if they are giving almost same features then I’m sold on Sorento

Do you think it can be used for offroading?

Reasons to go for AWD:

The base model FWD, while still feature rich, does not have:

• Auto smart tailgate
• Powered passenger seats
• 2 tone interior (although I like the all black setting)

The 3.5 V6 FWD will probably be about PKR 8 to 10 lac more. Plus registration would be over 6 lac.

The Magna Dynamax AWD system in Kia vehicles allows:

• Torque vectoring cornering control - so added driver confidence
• AWD lock for added traction in sticky situations like snow/mud/sand

So yeah I would say AWD is a great middle ground.

However, if one can afford it, there's going to be nothing in the market like the V6. Crazy fast and torque for days. Although what one does with these many horses and torque in a FWD setting would be a bit limited. Real world use: for me, very little. Your mileage may vary. Quite literally.

3.5L V6 FWD fuel economy figures as per Australian fuel economy cycle .

Combined City + highway is 10 liter per 100 kilometers. Keep in mind that these are under test conditions. For Pakistan expect it to be lower as even in case of Sportage Pk vs Australian market, we dont reach anywhere near the tested fuel economy numbers.

Below is my comment regarding Sportage, copy pasted here

" In Australian Sportage the same 2L engine+ Transmission is available but only FWD. The official test ADR81/02 gives following;

The Urban/ City is 10.9 L/ 100 or 9.17 Kilometers per Liter of fuel.
The Extra Urban/ Highway is 6.1L/100 or 16.39 Kilometers per liter of fuel.
The combined [ Urban/City + Extra Urban/ Highway ] is 7.9L/100 or 12.658 kilometers per Liter of fuel.

The fuel used in test/ recommended by manufacturer is regular unleaded 91 octane [ EURO 5 Complaint ].

These numbers will not apply to us directly because of various reasons but will give you some idea where PK Sportage stand. These figures are also for FWD, so AWD numbers will be obviously slightly lower. Again these numbers are in a test under controlled lab environment, so even for Australian customers, these figures might not be achievable ".

So, if we apply same on V6 Sorento, I think dont expect it to be around 10 on combined highway and city. In City it will be sure will be gas guzzler. Again if someone is spending 8 Million, must not worry about fuel gauge.. lol

Sorento and Carnival is different segment vehicles and obviously cant be compared with each other BUT in our market segment is not that important, the budget is sometimes.

Anyone spending 8 Million + , it's near the CBU Carnival with same engine and more features.. by near I mean would be within a million Range for GLS. Also Carnival is current generation and on brand new platform which it shares with the 4th generation Sorento as well. Much better vehicle dynamics also..

I totally agree. Carnival should be a serious consideration just for the generation ahead benefit alone. Plus it’s cbu and with more features and the same support as the Sorento, meaning warranty, after sales etc.
