This is quite silly. In general, oil changes should be 10,000 km or 6 months, provided that you use good quality oil and filters. This every 5k thing is implemented to make more money off customers. I just had the first oil change done at 5000 km, along with filter change this cost me approx 8,000 rupees. According to KIA this was a "free" service. Which means that now I have to go at 10k, 15k, 20k and so on and will spend a minimum of 8000 plus 5000 labour charges plus any other services like air filter change, brake service, cat converter cleaning at 20k etc. Spending approximately 15k for every service doesn't make sense to me and I am seriously considering the feasibility of maintaining warranty vs maintaining oil changes on my own.
Secondly, I don't know if anyone can shed light on this, but if your car is not company maintained, and something like your horn malfunctions, is warranty honoured? Because these parts have nothing to do with engine maintenance.
