I was in the same boat. Almost bought the Sportage but ended up with a 2015 Fortuner TRD Alhamdolilla.

Old Land Cruisers should be avoided. They are old and most are beaten up. Good condition cost alot.

will not be using this vehicle on a daily basis. More weekends or longer trips or when the entire family has to go out. We have other cars for daily use. Extremely confused on what / how the decision tree should look like.

Nothing beats comfort, class and ROAD PRESENCE of a Prado/Land Cruiser.

If it's going to be ONLY CITY drive on GOOD ROADS.. I suggest any crossover like Sportage or Tucson.

However
If you want to go North. Or offroad. Then I'd suggest a Prado. Pure LC is fine too but have to search for a good one.

Comfort of LC/Prado has no match specially when offroading. Or family trips as it's huge and has 7 seats, lots of space for things like a tent, camp at the top etc. So many camping and adventure accessories possible.

If you are into that thing.

Will demand more time n maintenance.

Alternatively fortuner diesel is also there for 4x4.

Can you please highlight the things included in 14k that are serviced/changed after every 5000 kms? Looking to buy a FWD sportage but worried about the service charges as Im gonna shift from a 1.6 Altis which is relatively cheaper regarding maintenance.

It includes inspection, oil, oil filter service, labour and other low cost consumables , previously I was having 1.6 Altis Maintenace was averagely costing at 11-12,000 per 5000 km from Toyota authorised service centre

Agreed. But these old machines are white elephants, spend more time in workshops than on road.

To repair them by the book is not everyones cup of tea.

Old LC parts are available but they are pretty expensive. You will need to make your own little service area of you want to keep an LC that old.
If you enjoy working on cars, working on an LC is very rewarding. But it will always be needing work.

I tried searching this thread but couldn't find a delivery checklist. Can someone guide me on what to look for when receiving a new Sportage AWD. This will a first for me as all previous vehicles have been used ones. The basics like functioning headunit, lights etc. are understood but is there any particular area I need to focus on? Delivery expected within a couple of weeks Inshallah.

Currently own a grande FL 18' and thinking of upgrading to Sportage FWD. My concern is the pano roof. The way people lit up the new years, independence days with aerial firing, would that post a threat to the passengers? I don't think the pano roof glass would have the strength to stop it.

I am also upgrading from Grande FL. This car also has a sunroof, albeit much smaller area vs the pano roof, but still there is a chance this mishap could happen. I don't think the pano roof will be able to stop this, but frankly speaking the bigger concern is something falling on top of the roof in the parked car and damaging it. Hasn't happened in two of my sunroof cars in the combined 4 years I have had them, but there is a chance.
Of course the windshield and rear window also provide a bigger area for a similar damage, and over the years I have had one rear window shattering incident in a Honda City that I currently have (second car). Thanks to a cricket ball / dropped bone by a high flying eagle (I couldn't tell which since I didn't find the object and there was a chance of both happening where I was driving )

Yes, absolutely. Like any other accidental damage, they should cover it. My rear window was replaced with insurance support.

The Panoramic roof is covered in insurance.. I posted pictures of a Sportage with damage due to aerial firining in this thread few months ago. The cost of parts is half a Million + labor costs. Insurance covers it if you have insurance BUT bad part, last time I know it took 3 to 4 months for parts to arrive. Not sure if parts inventory has improved .

My Honda City got a huge dent on the roof as it was parked under a coconut tree and one fell on it.Such a thing would definitely smash the Panoramic roof.I don't know why people are so excited about the Pano roof in a weather like ours which is hot/humid,dusty,noisy and full of pollution.

If one wants to go for Sportage, Alpha ppl generally avoid cause of its lack of stability control, which is essential for a car with higher CoG.... So they automatically have to upgrade to FWD at least and that comes with panoramic sunroof

Kia is issuing a recall for nearly 380,000 Sportage SUVs and Cadenza sedans due to a problem that could cause them to catch fire.

Until the problem has been fixed, Kia and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are warning owners to keep the vehicles parked outside and away from their homes and other buildings or vehicles to prevent any possible fire from spreading.

The recall applies to some model year 2017 through 2021 Sportages and 2017 through 2019 Cadenzas that aren't equipped with Smart Cruise Control. Smart Cruise Control enables the vehicle to use radar to automatically maintain a safe distance from other cars on the highway. Vehicles with regular cruise control may be involved in the recall, Kia said.

Bro just to share, absence of VSC in alpha make vehicle unstable surely it's a myth. Since day first, I drove my alpha on highways and northern areas which includes Lhr-Khi Trips and Galyat of north. Alpha grip is much better than my previously owned Grande and Civic 2014 model. As I am a frequent highway traveler so I found alpha more stable in every aspect.
Car Pick is awesome and may be due to 17 inch tyres brakes are responsive. I did not dive FWD or AWD but heard about late brake response but I did not feel it in Alpha.
So It's better first to try / test drive for better clarity.

Well.. if it's a MYTH then why VSC is mandatory in overseas markets? No car company can sell a vehicle without the stability control.

Extensive research and scientific data is available on the importance of stability control. Infact non availability of it in crossovers SUV increase the risk of rollover many folds.

I know you have Alpha BUT please don't underestimate the importance of ESC.

Thanks for your input. Bro I am not denying the importance of VSC. Indeed it's additional safety thing. But like this here is Pakistan we have numerous vehicles which lacks lots of basic safety features (like airbags ) but we have to live with available options.

I have sharing my first hand experience based on actual observations instead of rumors. So I a not brand ambassador of Sportage Aplha :). Just shared what I felt.
