Has anybody booked an FWD and then switched to an AWD at the time of full payment? I am confused if I should upgrade to AWD. Is it good value for money?

Not really won't get much out of that AWD system

No. The 500k upgrade from Alpha to FWD is good value but the extra 500k from FWD to AWD offers little value

And what about the driving experience? Even for the city roads, does AWD offer better handling and road grip?

P.S. I would appreciate an unbiased take lol. An AWD owner will justify his buying decision and so will the FWD one. I just want to know if the driving experience is better.

If you do high speed cornering and go to hill areas often, you will feel a difference. General routine driving, no difference at all

FWD has good traction in climbs of hilly areas. And also drives well in rain.

AWD outperforms FWD in snow driving.

But in Pakistan most of the big cities don't receive any snow at all. Maybe AWD is not worth the extra bucks that you'll have to pay for.

Usually I follow the rules, but whenever I find empty roads I prefer to drive fast and turn corners with minimal braking (like one can expect some good body roll).

I am somebody who used to drive a Honda City/Civic, then shifted to Corolla 1.6, but have never kept a compact SUV. A little worried that I won't be able to drive it with similar freedom as I drive a sedan.

Pros of
AWD:
1)Better acceleration
2) Better feel with equal push and pull forces
3) Bit more grip but not as much as these cars don't have enough power for grip and traction to be a concern
FWD:
1)Better fuel economy
2) Less maintenance in parts and tires
3)Shorter turning radius

THese high riders have a higher center of gravity and are inherently unstable. The active traction control etc help but they can just go as far. A lot of accidents in these cars are caused due to sudden body rolls etc.
No CUV has the same driving as a sedan. it can be somewhat closer to the pkdm corolla as that is already raised but still it would be more unstable.
just look at the accidents reported on facebook fan pages, mostly the CUVs flip, which is less common in a sedan or a good hatch,

I also prefer sedans and owned a RAV4 FWD in 2014, ddnt like that one bit.

Don't get me wrong I like Sportage, but it's nowhere near a stunner..

It's on the ugly side from the front.
New sportage is the same ugly from the front.

Tucson front and sportage rear side would have made a good vehicle looks wise.
