I stopped twice at motorway for prayer only <o:p></o:p>

And at last reached home at 10:40. Alhumdulillah.<o:p></o:p>

and at last I stopped at this hotel located just before Dassu town...away from hustle bustle. It was just 3:40pm... more than 2 hours left before sunset. As wagon driver at Chilas had said that Besham is reachable by 8 at night, I reaffirmed my decision to stay at Dassu. Next day when I reached Besham, I realized that I could make it to Besham before sunset yesterday.....wagon driver was wrong.

But my decision of staying at Dassu was fruitful...peaceful place...besides Indus river

My room was on the back of the hotel with a main terrace facing Indus. Had a quick bath and seated myself on the terrace and remained there until maghrib prayer

"dheeray dheeray gari chultey ruhee" and after taking a turn, attabad lake suddenly jumped in front of me and also a guy who was rubbing his "friend".

This reminded me of a joker type of Greek guy whom we met in Hunza years ago. He had asked us "why ***** is your best "friend"? "where ever I have gone, I have seen men "adjusting" their "friend" on the streets, footpaths, driving seat, at the barber shop, in the buses diligently."

Do you have answer about this affection towards "him"?

i went to naran ,shoogran,malamjabba,ayubia,khanispur by selfdrive on city. but never to kkh side . can i go to kkh by self drive as i have no exp.of it just see kkh on pakwheels??

I visited this area in 2004 or 5 perhpas..... But now i m felling in love with the Beauty of KKH............. Everytime i see any latest picture of this area i just want to fly and reach there...... May be next year i can visit these places.. Inshallah ! Thanks a lot for sharing the Useful info and Pictures !

Absolutely.... it was my 4th trip to this area. First three were completed between 1996 and 2000.

@wanderlust i came acros your thread today and read all in one go, could'nt have stoped reading the thread once i started it.... realy amazing and enjoyable... i wished to travel on the KKH til the china border since my school life but havent found any chance uptil now... stil wish to have trip on KKH....
anyways your trip must have been a matchless experience and your narration is too interesting and enjoyable!! thumbs up

Shahzad, you can also drive on KKH. The key is "sufar ki dua" and a lot of patience.

I sensed that Besham is very close now, there was little traffic and "poon poon". This town has now grown from 20 or 30 shops at the most to a city now. Nothing attractive to stop for a "botal" please don't take me wrong, I am referring to soft drink.<o:p></o:p>

After aabadi ended, there was a check post and traffic was waiting in line for clearance. A suntri badshah sliced me out of the line and asked me to go forward to meet his boss:

He - akaylay ho?

Me - jee (muskeeniat on my face)

He - kahan say aa ruhay ho?

Me - hunza say

He - karobar kay leyay gaya thay hunza?<o:p></o:p>

Me - nuhee ghoomnay phernay aaya tha

He - haen? itni door say akaylay he aa ruhay ho. Tumhara koe guraaeen (friend) nuhee?<o:p></o:p>

Me - haen to suhee pur wo upnay upnay kaam maen musroof thay. jub mujhay chutti meley tub he aa suka. (He should know there is no "nukhra" in "nokri" and with "chokrey")

He - kahan ub jaa ruhay ho, uchha upna shunahti card dikhao<o:p></o:p>

Me - upnay ghar Lahore jaa ruhha hoon or yay mayra card hae.<o:p></o:p>

He looked at the card and at the same time he was peeping inside the car<o:p></o:p>

He - Lahore to bohat door hae or tum akaylay he jaogay? Kya kurtay ho Lahore maen?

Me - nokri<o:p></o:p>

He - deekhao upnay duftar ka card.<o:p></o:p>

I had my visiting card with me and he let me go. This was the only thorough investigation on KKH.

It was necessary to clarify once my friend and I were going to ram gali lahore on basant invitation. Enroute we stopped at a pan shop in gawalmandi and my friend asked the shopkeeper "chacha 2 thundee botal daeyna"

Chacha replied with a shurrarti smile on his face "bao jee ussey sharif log aan, botal nuhey waychday"
