Stopped at Rakaposhi View Point at Gulmit for lunch.
My mind insisted me to recall memories from the year 1996 when I was on a trip to Khunjerab Pass with my friend. We had a hike for a couple of hours towards Rakaposhi from the view point.
At that place, there was just a small hut serving tea, four or five chairs, two of us, hut owner and sleepy Karakoram highway. After taking a cup of tea, we started our hike. On the way my friend said that he could not continue anymore and would rather wait for me. I continued climbing and after an hour or so, I can feel glaciers getting closer but still far away. Stunned by the surroundings, I stood there for a while and at the same gathering energy to climb further. No way..!!!!! Suddenly, I felt I was the only person in the universe, there was dead silence penetrating my ears, I thought glaciers will melt and will drag me down to the Hunza river flowing below KKH. I started running down like a lamb that is being chased by a wolf. That lamb did not stop until he was with his companion who was sleeping on a rock. "Why you disturbed me??...... it was sleep of a lifetime...."
