And then came another important and old gate of Lahore, Roshnai Darwaza (gate)
- Only gate preserved in its original shape
- used to be lit up at old times for travelers to arrive easily to the Fort and Mosque at night, hence Roshnai from 'roshni'

And this concludes my one day adventure to capture the old historic beauty of Lahore and try to relive it through my camera lens

I hope everyone had a nice time going through these pictures. I took many more, but these were the best ones I could finalize and upload them. Will try finding more from my collection and posting them too.

Others are welcome too, to contribute to this thread with the pictures they have along with their experience and travel stories, which would be highly appreciated.

Pictures can be posted here by other photographers on the same subject. Others can post too, to give an idea what else to they need to get covered and hopefully some photographers would work in that area.

I personally aim to cover the whole, if not the 'Purana Sheher' of Lahore next time I come to Lahore. In the mean time, Karachi ke liye bhi kuch kartay hain

Dear Yawar,

Please confirm have you seen any frescoes with human figurine (Insani Tasverain - mughal art miniature/ mural) on any historical building???

Its quite interesting that when you see forts (Specially Lal Qillah Delhi) in India, they have frescoes with human figurine while the forts / buildings by the same emperors don't have such frescoes in Pakistani Forts.

Its just a coincidence or we deliberately removed such things????

I don't think I have come across any such painting or even a sculpture. Highly possible that the people here removed them due to obvious Islamic reasons. I highly doubt it to be a coincidence because all their architecture follows the same design, principle and concept. Hence they can differ in terms of sculptures. If its present in India means two of either things
1) we removed ours
2) they added theirs

So yes starting with the events that have been happening. Here is one incident or event you may call that my uncle who was the guide told me. He has thorough knowledge in this and often visits due to his work and to give a tour to family members like us

Lahore people may also give us better information.

It goes like that Zardari had hosted a function for the Chinese government. It was some V.I.P (not sure if the Prime Minister or the President). So it was Grand event. Rangers were responsible for organizing it. The whole area between Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque's entrance was lit up with floodlights. Badshahi mosque was lit up us as well as Baara Dari and Lahore Fort's entrace (the one on the above picture). A stage was setup in the area above the footsteps of the entrance (above picture). The whole area looked like as if it was daylight. He says that the Fort looked so beautiful with its white wall and those lights and Badshahi mosque has the dreamy effect to it.
The whole area was cordoned off by the Rangers. No one else was allowed to attend. It was a high level dinner. I don't remember much (thanks to my memory) but I think he also told that where was this ghazal night or something. They had dinner over here. Had a nice time at night and this is all I guess.

Uncle's brother is a Brigadier and was deployed to head the Rangers at that time which was responsible for handling the entire event, that is why he knows it all. You people may add to it
