Happy to help.
Lancers are a pleasure to drive and a pain to maintain. The drive, road grip, power and the features offered beats all competing cars of that era by a long way. i have a lancer myself (the 93-95 model aka commonly called the taxi model) and I love it for the drive, the comfort and the power and hate it for the cost/hassle of maintaining her
Just to warn you upfront, parts are generally expensive and not widely available!
Parts depends upon your location. In Karachi, you will be able to find common parts such as breakpads, filters, waterpump etc but getting the right brand/quality is becoming challenging. For stuff like engine parts, suspension, shocks, radiators etc you will have to head to Tibet Center or Ayesha Manzil, there are a couple of shops which specialize in Mitsubishi so these are generally available (remember: expensive).
Body parts such as lights, bumpers, fenders etc are also available. Kabli stuff is generally available too both mechanical/body parts scarce as compared to other cars but available (and on the expensive side to). Windscreens etc are also available. Side mirrors (new) are also available the last i checked
Rubber parts (door linings etc) are not available though
I have shifted to Islamabad recently and finding parts of Lancer has become a hassle. Apparently there are only a couple of shops in Pindi who stocks them but i have yet to discover their locations. I'd appreciate if anybody from Islamabad/Pindi can guide me - need a rear wheel bearing and rear suspension bushes
To Sum it up :
Pros :
1. Excellent Drive,
2. Very Comfortable Seats, good interior
3. Decent Acceleration and power (my car still does 150 km/h at 4k RPM - point being it holds its own on the motorway/highway
4. Great AC (if working properly, otherwise pain in the ... )
5. I love the shape
Cons :
1. Expensive to maintain
2. Spare Parts expensive
3. Fuel economy - Ranges from 8-10km per liter in Islamabad at best, 140km on CNG / gave me around 120km in Karachi.
4. Body parts expensive and getting harder to find.
5. Mechanics with Lancer experience are a hard find
If you get a clean car car without major work required body wise and mechanically then i'd say go for. Otherwise being an "out of market" car, you'll end up spending quite a lot of fixing it up.
Hope this helps
