A word of advice get a big heat sink or this led wont last long and if you want improve its long throw then give little more space between lens and led

About the long throw, point well noted thanks. And you've now got me concerned about the heat up issue. I dont know if you've noticed, but ive deliberately left open space in front (to let in fresh air) + i only switch it on when i'm riding. So i reckon even if those tiny heat sinks are not able to keep the temtrature under control, then the fan would do the trick. Even if somehow the LED manages to heat up, there should be enough air flowing through the body in the first place to keep it all nice and cool. Kindly have a look at build structure and please let me know if u still think heating may be an issue worth stripping down my light ... again

if you think they arent heating then its good,from your pics it seem beam aint going too far just add some space between led and lens,although i also made something like that long ago for my car.it was 100watt led and heatsink i used was of pc although its size was too big to fit in car so converted it to torch light

This is my first post here, so im not sure if i should have posted this here (in the motorcycle/3 wheelers section) or in the DIY projects section. The DIY section is poured with car stuff, so i reckon this is the best place to share my little project.

Please bear in mind that im a responsible and a considerate rider, however there are those who care less about others on the road. This is exactly what i began facing recently with the introduction of stronger and brighter HIDs each and every day. I committed myself to making an even brighter headlight, however i wanted to use LED's instead. Better life, superior quality. Nothing like flashing some sense into these people Please bear in mind that the only time i try out my headlight is when i'm out late cruising on the roads of my beloved city, Karachi.

Here is how i made my headlight.

The Cob light, is powered by a 30 watt LED. I had to get a driver that converts 12w to 30w. Please note that i've deliberately chosen to leave open the outer edge of the head lamp case, for better air circulation.

and how much it cost...??

Behtreen hai yaar., I'm amazed by the feedback. Mujh se ziada shokeen londay mojood hain haha good work bro.

Someone here suggested that I need to adjust the distance between the LED and the lens, to avoid 'leakage' and form a perfect throw. Unfortunately I sold my bike and relocated to UAE. Perhaps you could make something which has a built-in mechanism for adjusting the distance on the fly. That would be so cool.
