Levis here sells both locally made jeans and apparel along with limited quantities of imported jeans and apparel articles every season. Since the excessive increase of duties enforced by the government, Levis Pakistan keeps 90% products which are made in Pakistan (to make them affordable) and the rest 10% are imported from abroad for customers who don't mind paying high price for an imported article. The split was 60 (Imported)/40 (local) before 2009, when the stupid government increased the duty several folds. Now, an imported jacket is not below Rs 20,000 (if they chose to stock it at all), that retailed for under Rs 10,000 before 2009. A Mexican 501 was sold by Levis in Pakistan for Rs 3795, but not costs Rs 8000 for the same.
If budget is not a problem and you can pay Rs 8000-10000 for a pair of jeans then look no further than a Levis 501 Made in Mexico or Indonesia. Please always see the tag inside to confirm where it's made.
Avoid buying anything made in Pakistan as the quality is always sub-standard. Pakistan is only top producer of raw materials but right at the bottom for finished goods in the world. Except for maybe one of two things like footballs. We don't have the trained labour or advanced machinery to build top quality finished goods. Sadly, I must add.
Buy Levis 501 (Made in Mexico), and I am damn sure that it will last a good 5-8 years of rough use. Made in Pakistan jeans would not last more than 2 at the very max. Locally made t-shirts by Levis fade within 3 months. 6 months, if you are lucky.
All of this I can say from personal experience. I have only bought Made in Pakistan Levis jeans once, and they didn't last more than 2 years. I have 3 Made in Mexico 501's and they have improved with age. 7 years and still going strong. They give that vintage look now. Good stuff.
Please, lodge your complain at their head office. If you bought them at full-price, they will probably replace it. Sale item would not be refunded or replaced. I am afraid, that's how it's here. Good luck!
