Just bought a Liana. Had an issue with its FF CNG... on cng its rpm was fluctuating while idling and as it moved it had jerks ...

After one or 2 days The car started bogging down as soon as it switched to CNG.... What i could do .. I did! That includes
a. Checked its cng filter, found it Ok.
b. Drained oil thru drain nut (very small quantity)
c. Opened the kit(i think its called reducer) and cleaned it from oil traces

Then sent it to SUZUKI M.WAYS sh.E.FAISAL. They have diagnosed that ECU is faulty and responsible for this erratic behaviour.
As per them, ECU is not properly sending the signals out. As a proof they say that they have checked the car with other ECU that worked fine.
Car is OK on petrol.

Kind advice of PWs is requested.. What should i do??

same are my thoughts...there must be a simple prob, as ecu is a robust unit... I tried to pursuade them... But they say its ecu... Now they have discncted cng circuit... And i am forced to run it on petrol

ecu for sure isnt connected 2 cng cuz as on petrol u can reach rev-limiter but on gas the revs keep goin trhu the redline :D. u see no ecu command to 2 rev-limitss so its for sure!
+ wHEN i baught my liana i drove it on petrol for ab8 10-15kms and rm fluctuation means no bigee just an oil change or so will fix it. do a complete checkup by a nyc mechanic!

liana has 2 ecus one for petrol and other for the cng. if ur ecu is faulty u can either get it repaired as a friend mentioned above or get it replaced by a used one as some people get the ff kit deinstalled and get aftermarket cng kit in there car.
also do check the injectors maybe one or two injectors are faulty had u got them serviced? give that a try.

Bro Estimate of the Services which are recommended are as below

Engine Mount Rear One= Rs 4000 + Labour = Rs 1000 at bilalganj for rupees 1000 to 1500 and 500 for labour
AC Belt = Rs 7000 + Generator Belt = Rs 10500 + Labour = Rs 1500 4pk835 alternator belt for 450 BENDO korea 4pk1010 AC belt BENDO korea for 500 works good couple of years.
Steering End + Tie Rod Replacement = Rs 45000 + Labour = Rs 10000 steering end JOINTFUJI japan 2.5k tie rod JOINTFUJI japan 2k
Silencer Mounts Replacement = Rs 25000 + Labour = Rs 5000 Less than 1k if you go to a silencer maker.

Total = Rs 102000

Too much man so i just left the Service Center without having these things replaced.:-!

Never go to 3s for suspension works,Always go to 3s for engine and exterior paint works.

now thats knowledge for me... The expert at s.mways told me that it has two chips - the ecu chip for petrol is ok and one for cng is erratic. But i wasn't convinced thinking that a single microcontroller must be governing both the fuels. Since you seconded the 3s experts' opinion, now I am convinced. But this gives rise to fol questions:-

A. Where to look for used ecu in karachi?

B. What is expected cost of the used one?

C. Anyone having an experience of repaired ecu?please share

D. Where to go in karachi for a second opinion on ecu and coils/injectors(other than Suzuki 3S)? Any time tested mechanic/technician please do tell !!
E. since 3s has disconnected the cng circuit ( to the extent that i can't switch to cng mode) how can I reconnect the cng circuit myself ? is their any DIY guide on this?

do u own a ff cnd car if yes then open the glove box and open its locks it will slip down put ur hand inside and check the uper side of the dashboard, u will find an ecu installed there which is responsible for cng operations only and you will also find the jack where 3s connect the cable for diagnostics. and last but not the least do not challenge someones knowledge if u dont know anything about it......

the petrol ecu is located else where and its diagnostic port is underneath steering column. correct me if im wrong....

also search landi renzo omegas kit on google.....

But it there is a possibility that Liana ECU has two major chips ( micro controllers) separate for petrol and CNG??

cng=nuthng 2 do with ecu. i told u it doexnt hit the limiter whch means no ecu for cng! only petrol!

Then why 3s head mechanic is telling me all that rubbish that its ecu has gone bad -- Drive the vehicle on petrol!!! LIMITER ??? can you please elaborate --- its location and possible cause of cng not reaching it???

That's because you probably have the 2nd generation landi renzo after market Cng Kit. The FF Cng in liana is the 4th generation Cng kit with Lamba control, ECU and Cng injectors. Ecu's started coming from the 3rd generation onwards. The purpose of the Cng Ecu is to replicate the timing of the petrol injectors and send the signals to the Cng injectors so that there is minimal difference in the Petrol and Cng performance.

Get your car connected to a computer from a good 3s. If your Ecu is faulty it will be clearly shown on the screen.

Since I was not there once my car was being looked into!! I had to believe in the mechanics' words: He said "ECU appears to be faulty" and "ECM (as per him a device that send signals to ECU) is ok but ECU is having a problem" --
Just to reiterate the car used to convert to cng but would bog down or result in a jerky ride -- Afterwards as soon as it tried to convert to cng their was no solenoid operation sound + Beeps sounded out of the selector switch as if there is no cng and car convert back to petrol

Later Whenever i converted it did not convert and gave a toot toot sound. Then it came back on petrol.

What i could do .. I did! That includes
a. Checked its cng filter, found it Ok.

They disconnected the CNG and car is now purely running on petrol -- no cng option (even for second opinion from elsewhere, i will have to send my car to 3s dealership for cng connections ---- any DIY to reconnect cng)

In 99% of the cases ECU?s are not faulty but the problem lies with the choice of the technician, may they be Authorized Suzuki Motors Technicians. They said that they fitted another ECU and vehicle started to work properly. This clearly says that current ECU needs to be updated with new configuration file or maybe something has thrown the currents setting out of Calibration. Ask your current technician to place the ECU back and visit another Suzuki Workshop who has the capability and knowledge to update the settings on current ECU.

Liana?s CNG Kit is one big issue; I have replaced the CNG filter, Cleaned the CNG kit by opening and draining all the oil, cleaned the injectors and cleaned all the fuses installed on this kit, went ahead and changed the ignition coils but problem remains intact. Then I suspected if injectors not being connected properly but cross verified individual wirings on the injectors being labeled as A?B?C?D but all of the going to its right slot as being labeled on Injectors housing as A?B?C?D. Last of all, what remains is Software testing and updating the software with new parameters. I have visited few facilities at Suzuki Workshops but not of them knew how to update the parameters on the software. What I don?t understand, is what has caused the ECU to reset or dump the previous working settings.

It?s obviously frustrating to work your way around with this kit because of lack of available expertise in market.
